why are some names bold???

in the author column on the message boards here why are some names in bold but others not?

Sorry, I'm not sure I'm understanding the fashion connection ... are you referring to designers or vendors here, or QVC customers who post here?

I often wondered that too.

But I just tried something and I think this is the explanation.

Click on any bold title. Then go back to where you were seeing all the titles again.

You will see the one you just read in lighter print. So If you just read it, it appears in light print to show you the ones you have opened and read.

@alohakz It appears @on the bay beat me to the answer. The ones you have read apprear in the lighter typeface to let you know you have read them. The unread ones will appear in bold face. A lot of places use that method. :-)

I believe the OP means the AUTHOR'S name, not the thread title, is most often in BOLD

If you mean the OP name, it depends on the number of posts they have. The posters with fewer posts will have their names in lighter print. Posters with more posts will be in bold print.

@geezerette So what's the magic number? You have over 16,000 posts and I see Bird mama has over 40,000. She does have that one capital but your name has none. Seems to me you have also contributed very well to this site already.

Same here. ALL posters' screen names are bold on my devices.

The OP is asking about bold type, not CAPITALS. When a poster chooses their name, they decide whether they want any capitals. @geezerette choose to write her name in all lower case, but @Bird mama put a capital at the beginning of hers. So capitals have nothing to do with how much a poster has contributed to this site.

Not on mine. Those with just a few posts are in regular type, those with more posts have bolded type. In the "View All Forum Topics" view.

I think you are asking (like you said!) why are some NAMES, not TITLES in bold and some not? right?

Sorry we all are a little slow or confusing lol! My first answer was maybe not want you were asking, I see now.

But I don't have any names in lighter print either. They are all in bold.

I only have titles lighter than others-the ones I read.

So I don't know the answer either.

the names that i see that are NOT in bolder print are "newer" posters with fewer posts. i see this all the time on the boards when looking at the entire list of posts once i go into the category i am browsing. it has been this way for a long time. i access the forums via my laptop.
