Hi fashion friends.

Three whole months of low-buy thrift-only. I even managed to shop retail without buying, not that I wouldn't have purchased haha, but I didn't see anything I had to have or needed. What I needed were a few things to get through the transition that I wasn't finding in the thrift stores, so I went to TJMaxx and Target this week and bought a few things.

I'm not beating myself up over breaking my low-buy thrift-only Challenge because I'm proud of myself for making it through three months without spending an arm and a leg at retail or rushing out to buy the fashion industry dictated spring pastels...an absolute record for me! I'll continue the Challenge...until the next time I break it for one reason or another haha.

We're still on the weather roller coaster...yesterday it was in the low 80s...today it topped out at 58 for about an hour, then dropped to 45 for most of the day.

A cool day, lower 60s, blustery, and rain. I had on a mid-weight Cuddl Duds base layer around the house, but went out for a few hours to run errands. This jacket is one of the TJMaxx purchases. We gave up trying to get an accurate color...it's a deeper blue, almost periwinkle...black trim and hidden hood. The length is perfect and provides just enough warmth/coverage. Mondetta Outdoor Project, 100% nylon with mesh lining. I never knew I needed a jacket like this haha...

The next day it was 85, sunny and mild. The jeans are Bagatelle, TJMaxx. I didn't need them, but they fit perfectly, and I've been looking for off-white jeans for summer. My Eileen Fisher lightweight ribbed black pullover hoodie, Time and True off-white and black striped (straw?) mules, and thrifted woven leather Brighton bag...

My problem is that something has to go! This last year, I've noticed that I have consistently 120-130 pieces of clothing for all seasons that I love or are functional, and that I'm wearing. I can usually quickly pick 5 or 6 items that can go in order to keep my closet manageable and not fall back into pre-Purge chaos, heaven forbid! So, blue rain jacket and off-white jeans are in, this outfit is out...

Easy come, easy go.

@MacDuFF It's not easy to plan an outfit when the weather takes you on a roller coaster ride, but you always find great picks and put them together so nicely.

My fave tonight is #2.

Your second outfit is great MacDuFF, but I really like your jacket in #1.

I've been looking for a spring jacket but have had no luck. In the 40's here so my winter coat works for now but warmer weather is coming!

I like the outfits but I really like the blue top and white jeans and bag. Me kind of outfit as well.

Weather up and down here as well. Need to put some outfits together for the week. Hard to decide.

@MacDUFF Good Morning. We’re having a roller coaster spring, too. It was in the high 70s last week and I wore shorts! Now its 45* and I was in my winter coat for my walk. Go figure. Anyway, I really like that Mondetta jacket and I think it will work well for your transitional weather.

Very nice jacket. I have purchased Mondetta brand from Costco in the recent past. Great value and quality. I have 2 dogs, so a jacket with a hood is a Must Have. Yours is darling.

As always, love your outfits. Anything EF from thrift makes the cut. Black or navy & white- even better. I agree with the items you are releasing from your wardrobe. The sleeves on that top are not "you", and no need to keep pants if you have others that look and feel better. Problem with pants is that as my lower half seems to be constantly "shifting". Fit of pants comes and goes, so I will hold on to extras.

When shopping retail, my first stop is always Marshall's. Just a couple of miles down the road from me. Clean, well stock store and prices are not awful (like QVC).

Today for Easter Sunday church attendance I was all thrift: SAS black patent croco loafers, Chico's black ponte knit pants, some kind of long sleeve aqua cotton tee, Chadwick's multi blue/green tweed jacket and even faux aqua emerald cut earrings.

I would have preferred navy pants, but the only pants I have in Navy are cropped.

This week's thrift finds: Isaac Mizrahi Live! blue linen/ rayon pants that are selling today on the Q for $71.00 + shipping. The color I got is sold out. I paid $5. They are a size S and my b*tt is at least a M, but I got them on.

2 Beatles graphic tees, gray and green, purchased from the same local thrift on different days. I have been looking for concert type tees to wear under a black blazer or denim jean jackets to no avail for the longest, until recently. I think I now have 4, which is plenty. Search over.

2 Croft and Barrow (Kohl's) solid tees: espresso Pima and magenta cotton.

Spring temps are expected this weekend. I will start by packing up winter and then begin going through spring/ summer. The thrifts should be getting lots of new in this month! As mentioned previously, I need to only buy Loves and Needs as I appear to be pretty well stocked.

Thank you @Desert Lily The phrase "I never know what to wear," can be heard a lot in my neck of the woods these days! I sometimes put a light base layer in my handbag just in case...it's always something I tell ya.

@DSD2 Thanks! I have a feeling this Mondetta jacket will be getting a lot of use in the next 3-4 weeks. I really need a slightly heavier weight jacket for the cooler spring temps. Thank goodness light weight cashmere works very well in the cooler temps, so I've learned (the hard way, naturally haha) to not store the light weight cashmere with the heavy weight wool/cashmere...I keep them in the closet for a few extra weeks.

Hi @Roscoe the Rascal ...that blue denim top/white jeans outfit was cute and fun, but I didn't like the top with anything else in my closet, so the versatility wasn't there. I got my $$$ worth out of it...wore it a few times...but it just didn't work. I don't even think about what I'm going to wear until I've listened to the weather report every morning and even that can't be trusted hahaha. The only time I don't have to do that is summer...summer weather from mid-May to mid-October = sweltering hot...ugh.

Hi @teganslaw Oh no, just the top and jeans are gone. I love that handbag, and I predict those embroidered sandals are going to rank in the top 10 of all-time favorite thrifts.

@queendiva It's great to hear your good experience with Mondetta...I had never heard of it. For the record, anything that is not preceded by the word "thrifted" was purchased at retail. The Eileen Fisher hoodie was purchased a few years ago at Dillard's...a great sale price, but so boxy that I had to take in the sides. I love it, though. Yeah, a lot of shifting, sagging, and creaking going on here. Your Easter service outfit sounds beautiful...aqua is about the only pastel I love/can wear. What a find on that IM!! I really enjoy hearing about your thrifting experiences/finds. Thanks diva.

Hi @Parischic Those are Converse "Jack Purcell" sneaks...unisex. Mine are old. Apparently, they're not quite the same any more if reviews on Nordstrom are to be believed. I really love my Converse sneaks. I mostly have the Chucks.

All three outfits are great! I really love the jacket....it's a great color w// the black trim. I don't think I could have given up outfit #3.

I understand the roller coaster temps. Sometimes we're like that in the same day.
