I loved this look back when it was popular and I still love it today. Valerie looked great - as always. Is this look coming back?

I really like that look, too. However, on me it looks dumb. What can I say? I'm just not cool, I guess. LOL! FWIW, I don't look all that great in scarves either and I simply adore them on other people.

It's an 80s trend (The Preppy Handbook) that seems to be part of bringing the 80s back.

For Val, however, I don't think it's a trend. It's a component of her classic wardrobe vernacular whatever the latest trend may be. She wears it extremely well.

I never cared for this look but Val certainly pulled it off. I just thought, oh the studio must be cold today, LOL! Other than her preppy style I did enjoy her show yesterday.

I never cared for the look, ESPECIALLY on men. Of course, this is JMO, but it doesn't looked masculine at all. It comes across as trying too hard.

I was in college in the mid sixties and many of the guys wore a sweater like this.

I never wore it when it was in style in the 80's, but it looks fine on her. @pupwhipped I have the same issue with scarves. I have a short neck. But, that doesn't keep me from wearing turtlenecks, LOL.

It looks good on Valerie and seems to suit her. I never wore my sweaters this way in the 80s. Just not comfortable or my thing. The preppy style is trending again. I've seen a lot of trends come and go over the years.

i wore them in school. But my sweaters were always tied around my waist. In university, they were like a little uniform....

@pupwhipped The casual sweater over the shoulders is a look I like - but not on my body. Look carefully at those on whom you admire it and if your body is quite similar ask a friend to help you try it. Me? Once I realized which figures attracted me to the look, I realized I should avoid it.

I like that look and often do it...my internal thermostat has a mind of its own and I like to have something to cover my shoulders if necessary.

For some, this is functional and for others, it's about the style. The sweater over the shoulders will always be happening even if it is not au courant. Personally, sometimes it looks good and other times, a placeholder for a sweater when it gets too warm.

When I was away at school tying a sweater around the neck or waist was the best way to carry it for use in cold lecture halls!! I have always liked Valerie's style .
