Anthropologie Crossbody Handbags

Just sharing an accessories find...

Last week I was looking for a small to medium black crossbody bag with some umph to it. Not just a run of the mill crossbody.

I took a quick search at IHKWIP, Lug, Baggallini, and others here.

But I renewed my search at other retailers today and found a really cute bag at Anthropologie.

Leather

8"H, 15"W, 2"D
21" braided strap drop

The strap may not work if you're petite since it's non-adjustable.

$148 (but I had a 20% coupon)

A bit pricey, but I love it.

They have many others in different styles.

The major benefit of using a crossbody bag is organization and versatility. This bag fails on both accounts.

No outside pockets.
An impractical silhouette

Fixed strap - not removable or adjustable

Not anything I would purchase

You're right, it's not supremely practical. But it was never meant to be. I have plenty of much more practical crossbody bags. This specific crossbody was purposefully a purchase of style over function. It's not so serious. It's not the kind I'd take on my weekly grocery store runs. But it's dimensions are in fact larger than each of the two Lug bags I use for grocery shopping right now.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, of course. The umph I mentioned earlier meant I was looking for some style. Something I'd wear to the theater, or out to dinner or a drink with a friend. I can get in this bag very easily by the zipper at the top.

I like the look of that bag and I wear a ton of black, so this bag would get a lot of use. I find the ease of having my hands free, light weight and a compact design are just what I need most days for my life.

All I really put in my purse is a cell phone, lippie, comb and tissue. I don't need a bunch of purses or backpacks for everyday living. Now if I'm going on a plane trip...then I might grab a bigger bag, but then I have a crossbody inside that bag or packed away.

Enjoy your new bag. I think the price you paid is a fair value for the quality.

I have crossbody's and other style bags that have outside zippers, slip pockets....inside compartments. The Anthropolgie braided CB iis just what I was looking for in a black CB bag & the size. The style with the braids on that black bag is gorg.

I had a few questions about the bag so I called cust. serv. & they were so polite & were well informed. So I ordered from the rep. She also said that bag was popular & that it would work out for most heights including petites. Have a good wkend

Guess who just knocked on my door? The Braided Leather Crossbody, that's who! Beating delivery expectations.

I love it!

The bag itself seems larger than the photos. It has two inside slip pockets, and one inside zippered pocket. The braid is also bigger -- thicker than I imagined. Makes it look more impressive. At first I thought the braid was twisted, but it's not. Just smooth it out from how it was shaped from the packaging. It then positions perfectly.

The zippers are smooth, no hitches. The length of the braided strap has the bag placed at my waist, no higher or lower. Just right for me (I'm 5'7").

The leather is very sumptuous. This is soft not structured. The contents I'll put in this bag will more than fit, there's plenty of room; I'll be able to see everything in it.

The lining is a black cloth, with leather trim. The black lining in this case is a plus because the zipper stops about 3/4 of an inch before the braid begins. So all you see is continuous black, no contrast lining color.

If I have a negative, there's just one

Because the design of the bag has the braided handle incorporated into the bag, there's no way for the bag to come to an absolute stop at the crescent ends. That accounts for my mention of the zipper stopping and showing a bit of the inside lining going up the handle. Hard to explain, you'll see when yours arrives.

Overall, I love this bag. I have nothing like it, and it's definitely an outfit statement, without having to have any bling or wild treatments. Very happy with it.

Good Morning @Caaareful Shopper So glad you love the bag! Thanks for getting back to me so soon & your detailed review. The bag is 15'' wide & that was one of the reasons I purchased but of course if it was smaller I still would have because its a stunner.

Since you mentioned it, the zipper was one of the questions I asked the CS rep. When I saw it online & enlarged it, I noticed that the zipper didn't zip all the way up. She gave the same explaination as you did....but said the opening was so small that it would not be noticable because the zipper is black & the lining.

I will let you know when I receive mine. Take care
