Jean Jackets...why?

Why do people like jean jackets? I'm always tempted by them but they seem so stiff and not too comfortable. Macys has one marked down somewhat today, and I'm looking at it, but it just doesn' look like something I'd wear compared to my soft, comfy fleece jackets.

I know what you are saying and I didn't wear a jean jacket for many years because of that. I do own a couple DG2 collarless (hate collars) stretch denim jackets I bought on HSN. They are comfy and not constricting at all. I still like the look of a jean jacket.

I don't think they are meant to replace your fleece jackets or your overcoats. They are to replace blazers when you don't want that overdressed look. However, they are becoming fashion statements. If you don't think you like them and don't understand how to wear them, don't spend your money. Wearing them has taken the place of a cardigan or a light blazer. Otherwise, "don't" is my suggestion.

I have jean jackets (yellow, pink, turquoise) from Linea....they are soft, fitted, and exquisitely tailored with beautiful gold embossed buttons. Unfortunately, no longer available unless you can find used online. I also have denim jackets that are fitted, well worn, and casual - I love to pair with summer dresses and, of course, jeans. All of my jackets are comfortable to wear.

I love them...especially over sundresses, as needed in summer, or a light layer in fall. I have several.

These days, they, like many garments, and like jeans pants, have stretch in them. I own a Tribal one that is soft dark denim,with stretch, that honestly feels like I have a cardigan on....no longer stiff, boxy, masculine looking Levi jeans jackets of the 70's/80's. This has pretty lines that fit my body nicely...not boxy at all, not snug either. Flattering.

I own another favorite, cropped denim jacket from the LOFT, several years I've had...looks perfect over my sundresses. Cropped fits more like a shrug, which still shows off the lines of the dress rather than cover it all up.

I have another white one I bought on Shop HQ a few years ago, with stretch in it..also looks good all summer, and is comfortable. Got that as a bargain too...only about $23.00, same quality as ones we sold in a boutique I worked in for about $70.00.

The stretch added these days is the key to making them more comfortable. I don't like anything constricting or stiff either. Also, many are shaped very feminine, flattering to the body.

I know people really love them. I'm personally not a fan. They're too boxy and they hit me in a funny place. I do have one jean jacket that more fitted and the length is perfect for me.

I don't think a jean jacket is a substitute for a fleece jacket. I think there's a tmie and place for both.

@Another new name Sue The ones I've purchased (many) are not stiff all cotton denim. I look for those with spandex or other fabrics as part of the fabric.

Most stiff jackets can be washed w/ fabric softener or dryer sheets and they are no longer uncomfortable.

Todays jean jackets are not the stiff ones of yesteryear. Many have stretch are are soft.

They are not meant to be wore as a keep warm jacket like your fleece. Think of them as a cardigan to be wore when its cool out or you are in AC.

If you think you wont wear it then dont buy it, it will jus take up space in your closet or you will end up donating it.

If you really want to try one, I suggest look at thrift stores or Goodwill and not pay much for it.

Love jean jackets, and I own a few. However, they aren't as warm and comfortable as a good fleece or microsuede jacket. I wear jean jackets when I want to look very nice--but I don't have to look church-nice or business professional-nice. Maybe wear it to a friend's or family member's party or a gathering of friends at a semi-nice restaurant.

Where I live, except for a week of really cold weather, my fleece jackets or puffer coat are never worn. I keep them if I travel elsewhere in winter.

Most of the fall/winter months, a denim jacket over a sweater is sufficient.

I love a good jean jacket. I recently bought a really cute cropped distressed one from Amazon that I wear with leggings and graphic tees or a maxi dress. It is not boxy at all. I like my denim jackets fitted, cropped, collar popped and my sleeves turned up.

I love jean jackets and jean vests. I'm wearing a jean vest over a black short-sleeved top paired with dusty red cropped pants. Many of them are made to be soft and comfortable now, and they come in different cuts to flatter different body types. They look great over dresses and just about any casual to business casual outfit. And where I live, our cold weather really doesn't hit us until December, so jean jackets are great to wear in the fall when you need something to keep the slight chill away but it's still pretty mild out.

I have one that is the Macy's *house brand*, I think it's an INC Concepts and it is extremely comfortable. Has some stretch to it and the material is soft.

Where I live (Tampa Bay Area), temps will be 90 through October. Then 80s. Too hot for my denim jacket. In December and January we will get a few days of "winter," temps in 60s. That's when I excitedly bust out my jean jacket, long sleeved shirts, full length pants and loafers. Such a fleeting season for Floridians. I enjoy those times and those clothes. But not enough to move back to five month 🥶 winters, haha

I love my jean jackets. I own 14 of them.

They each have a different "personality" or design that makes them perfect to wear with many different things. I have light, medium, and dark indigo; white, black; grey; one black & grey tie-dye; and one in multi-colors.

Among the indigo ones, some are frayed; have zippered sides or zippered sleeves; and one is saturated deep blue to replace a blazer.

Also, I have one that I picked up at a thrift store in my neighborhood. I hand-painted designs all over the back. I get lots of compliments on it every time I wear it. It's my favorite.

In the Mid-Atlantic area, I may need a heavy coat about 8 days out of the 3 months of cold weather. I can wear a denim jacket and a different large scarf and be plenty warm. Then indoors I'm never over-heated.

I have 5 - two shorter and three longer ones. Either white, indigo or black/gray.

I bought one because I saw pattern for a chunky crochet vest worn over a denim jacket. Loved the vest .... so I bought the jacket and then one vest led to another .... I have more vests than I do jackets!

(Vests also look great over some of my nylon windbreakers!)

I also have a couple of "embellished" denim jackets from years ago that I still wear.

I got one from Costco about 3 years ago and it's extremely soft. We don't need a coat in Arizona and even fleece can be hot. Usually I just need a jacket for the morning hours until 9-10 and then it's off.

I love the look of them and where I live they are simply part of the culture. Farmers and ranchers have worn them all my life. Matter of fact, that was all the coat old cowboys ever wore. Maybe a lined one in winter.

Go feed the cows in the snow? A jean jacket or dark gray coveralls.

I love jean jackets and always have kept 2 or 3 in my wardrobe. To me they always look "in style" and youthful. Mine are not stiff.
