Zara is one of those "fast fashion" houses. I wish bloggers wouldn't promote them because they do not have ethical manufacturing practices and exploit workers and do not pay a living wage.

If you want to know what is going on, google the Parsons School of Design (where Tim Gunn taught), designer Justine Leconte under "Fast Fashion".

A little history first. It's headquartered in Spain. They manufacture its most fashionable items, half of all its merchandise, at company owned factories in Spain, Portugal, and Turkey. Clothes such as basic T-shirts are made in Asian countries.

They design their own clothing and with making so much of it in their own factories, they can have it completed in about a month.

Zara prides itself on using a lot of recycled, non-toxic fabrics.

They are known for making "Fast Fashion;" which is usually low quality; although I didn't find that to be true of Zara. I purchased several classic blazers and one coat and was very surprised at how well they are made for the price. All are a cotton/polyester or wool polyester mix.

Fit is good and sizing has been consistent. Processing and shipping times good.

They have unbelievable sales where items are marked down by 75% at times.

They have a lot of traditional classic blazers right now, but some of their clothing is too trendy and young for me.

Zara is hugely popular. They were one of the first fast fashion houses. It's headquarter is in Spain. I sill think they make them there. Their catalog is updated twice a week I think. They update the clothes almost all the time. If you see something you like, you won't see it again if you pull it up a week later. The laws in Spain might be different from here. The unions allowed just about killed the clothing made in the US. All countries that make clothes are at the bottom of the barrel. Not just Zara. They are mostly sewn in Asia. No benefits, barely any bathroom breaks and very poorly paid. All you have to know is to operate at sewing machine (or they teach you) You sit there and sew seams together.

The few American made garments are jean companies like Rag & Bone, Frame, 3X1, etc. There are in New York and very, expensive (because the sewers are well paid with benefits) They are in Soho, NY. I only buy my jeans from them. And they start at over $200.00. If ou want their personal serivce, you come in there. They measure you, make it from scratch, then call you to come in and pick them up.

@granddi I have ordered several l items in the past. I like their clothing. Very stylish. I'm a sz 4 and have no problem with their sizing. They even have a way to help you figure out your sizing

Do you know of Justine Leconte, designer that came out of Parsons? She's in Europe and is promoting sustainable fashion. Her youtube video on fast fashion has so much information, it's quite an eyeopener.

I don't mind "fast fashion" for some items. If something is more trendy, I don't want to spend a lot of money on the items because they aren't something I'm going to have in my closet for a long time. However, there are times I am surprised at the quality of these fast fashion houses. The items have held up much longer than I expected them to.

But let's be honest. Anyone that is a fast fashion company isn't good for the environment. That is common sense.

I have two wool, lined blazers from Zara. They are from ten years ago...not boxy but fitted styles. I went up a size. They rival my Theory blazers in quality and fit.

Zara has some real bargains but I only shop in-store as their sizing is all over the place.

I have a knock off Burberry trench from Zara. It rivals the fine tailoring and looks really great five years later...

i have not shopped at Zara. i'm not big on online ordering either as i like to try on garments first. Wayy back when H&M first arrived here in the US, their fashions were nice quality. The dress pants had a generous seam allowance for alterations, they had nice wool sweaters and blazers. Along the way they, like so many other brands, went downhill. Macy's INC, same thing. I still have a few H&M and INC pieces, from before they did new collections every 2 months.

I love fashion. i don't have money to burn and fashion pics with fancy scarvage to post daily as some here do i do like quality in my clothing purchases and i don't collect so much stuff to "run to consignment" to dump off things worn once or twice.

I just got my red jacket and I feel like a princess! Ha Ha

Just for feed back on sizing, I'm an 8 pant and 10 top. I ordered the medium and it fits. If you have long arms the sleeve length might be an issue. I would say it would not fit well over a bulky sweater as the back it not generous.The construction looks good ie seaming. For under $100 its a good find.
