Waffle Knit

Why do they carry on about a waffle knit like it's some new discovery. It's still just waffle knit no matter what "designer" brought it to Q. I have many mostly old . You can walk into any American Eagle, Gap, etc store and buy one just as soft and comfortable for less.

I think of it as being mostly a thermal underwear fabric. Very utilitarian.

same reason they go on about how Model it's Modal is sooo expensive.

I like a thermal knit as much as anyone but it's not new to clothing

Maybe I've been buying the wrong waffle knit. The kind I have, after just one wash, always looks so well-worn that I only wear it inside my apartment. Waffle knit is my inside-only clothes. It never looks polished again, once worn. No waffle knit for me.

I was JUST wondering the other day if waffle knit had changed over the years since it seems like it is a "new" trend. I refuse to buy it--- only becuase way back in the day I bought my clothes at KMart or Big K----most of it was waffle knit and it was just cheap looking and cheap quality. Thanks for posting!

Waffle knit is just ok. It's kind of pajama-y to me. I have a couple of pieces that I may wear layerd under a vest.

Are we talking about the Candace Cameron Bure top? That was so not special and they kept carrying on about it like it was. It looked really thin and flimsy. I changed the channel because I got bored.

waffle knit is thermal underwear, and ugly for a reason. It has no memory, in other words it bags and sags, and the only way to revive it is to wash it and throw it in the dryer where it proceeds to shrink to about its size.

I have a henley waffle knit top I bought at JCP about six years ago. It's from the St John's Bay line, It hasn't stretched or shrunk at all.

The worst waffle knit I've seen in recent years was the Logo TSV last month. It was so thin and cheesy you could read a newspaper through it. To complete the cheap look, she left raw edges to stretch and fray. It looked worn after several hours of wear with no laundering.

Agree, that I've worn cotton waffle knit as a layerng piece under casual flannel shirts when gardening, hiking or engaging in other outdoor activities .

I don't see much new , other than the open v neck which is not really not a new design

@JJsMom I bought 2 of the CCB waffle knit tops you mentioned. Some of her things I like and some I had to return. the frayed long sleeve top she presented in the show is one that I bought and returned.

I hope the waffle knit tops I bought are not a disappointment as I loved the colors and thought they looked good.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Good luck with your other purchases! I got a waffle knit from Under Armour a while ago, and while I don't wear it often, it was good quality.

Yes. They spend more time endorsing the skin care and then the usual story that she played DJ Turner and now even Candace is referring to her newer items as "worn by DJ Turner." DJ was in her teens and I don't want to dress like her.

There are good thermal shirts but they are base layers for warmth. The ones Q totes from CCB and Logo are cheap.

One thing is for certain--not all waffle weave is created equal. I personally love a small tight weave waffle henley or crew neck shirt. But I have seen some awful big loosely woven waffle weave I would not add to my wardrobe if free.

I agree @magicmoodz about the variety and range of waffle knit fabrics. The CCB waffle top is new so I'm not understanding the premature determination that it's poor quality. Oh and then the obvious bashing of Q and CCB 👎

I have the GILI waffle top that was recently sold and it's FABULOUS! I love the fabric and design of the top.

I ordered the CCB waffle top last night - Zesty Lemon - it's on waitlist. I like that the CCB top is cut shorter in length and the nice vneck design. And I don't think the event pricing is unreasonable. For those of us that purchased, hope we LOVE it

I have a few very 'heavy' waffle knit thermal underwear from, say, the early seventies? The labels are JC Penny, and I believe I bought them in the men's department. Also, they did and still 'shrink' if left in the dryer too long. Also, they don't dry very quickly and need more time to completely dry because they are very 'heavy' when wet.

For going to 'the snow', so to speak.

I also have cotton blend thermals that are much more comfortable, dry quicker than my old pure cotton tight knit types.

Also have fashion waffle knits that are very comfortable, soft, etc.

I happen to like these more 'modern' types.

Totally agree ... not all waffle knit is the same. I have a couple v neck henleys that I have had for years ... probably 10 years or more. They wash and dry just fine. They are 100% cotton and any shrinkage was so minimal that I haven't noticed.

I am not interested in buying poly waffle knit and look to see if that is in any of the items, prior to buying.

Also, not about waffle, but someone also mentioned modal and that is a fabric that I do not like at all. There just doesn't seem to be any "heft" to it, at least the items I've purchased. The feel of the material reminds me too much of baby clothing. I wear very close to the body (not tight) clothing and modal, IMO, doesn't look good on my body when it's a close to the body item.

I'm not a fan of waffle knit. I know it's probably changed over the years, but it just reminds me of long underwear.
I wouldn't wear it as a "regular top that shows" regardless of design or weave. The only pieces I own are my thermal top and bottom which I layer under other items when I'm outside for an extended time in super cold weather.
