Your Personal Style

I was just thinking that I love so many more styles today than I have in the past.

Sure, every year I found a few items I liked and bought them in reason, but it seems now with internet shopping and all the access we have now, I find more that I like!

More cotton, more color variety, more style.

When did you have the best "style" years?

To be honest, they were and are the best. I was not into fads and probably had very few bad looks, but I stick to basic and classics. I've always gotten comments on how well-coordinated and put together I look. I've branced out on my own the past few years. The only thing I know now is I wear what I like and not worry about what others will think.

I don't think my style changed at all. I still wear pretty much what I did when I was a teenager.

Jeans and 100% cotton tee shirts.Shorts, capris. I never wear dresses, only skirts. I never wear the color brown...except for leather goods. i never wear sneakers, or closed shoes....just sandals and backless shoes. No boots, unless they are for the snow.

I have never been about fashion. Thankfully, I can look at picture of myself taken 20 to 40 years ago and not laugh. No big hair and no clothing that is now dated.

I did give up my bikini....thank goodness. My body is way too dated for skimpy clothing.

I find the styles have changed for me for the better. I feel more comfortable in what I wear and am happy the casual look to be available more than before. Years ago I dressed up for work and when I went out to dinner or a play. Now I have found my comfort zone and can still dress up but more comfortably.

My best style years were in the late 70's and early 80's. I never looked better before or after. Hair, makeup, clothing was spot on. My morning ritual took two hours before I was ready to step out the door.

This is a fun post!

I was pretty bold and fearless style-wise in the 80s so maybe that's my answer. I was young and fashion was fun!

I almost always wear jeans now, and don't wear skirts or dresses. I don't wear hose or tights, heels or tall dress boots anymore. I buy more solids now though still wear the prints that I have, and more cotton than synthetics, though I love rayon-spandex if it's not too thin. I've gotten into plaids the past couple years and I never used to wear plaid.

For the most part I don't wear as many bright colors and don't wear browns or beiges since my hair turned gray. I bought a bright orange top last year and that was a big mistake. I feel that I look better in softer, lighter, cooler colors and neutrals.

I wear what I like and it has to be comfortable and easy care, because I don't iron.

I have way, way too many clothes but love them all!

Really, about the only choice I have is Belk, and I'm bored with it. They've been carrying a lot of the same styles just in different fabrics for the last few years. The one closest to me anchors an outdoor mall, so the other day I went through the directory and checked out the websites for all the clothing stores. Well, except for Anthropologie and H&M because they wanted me to change my cookie settings for them. I didn't see anything I liked. It was all loose fitting sloppy sweaters/tops and the like. Oh well, don't really NEED any new clothing anyways.

My personal style has always been wear what you like and like what you wear. I have always gravitated to the unusual and unique and have always liked denim but never looked same old same old or dressed conservatively.

I recently lost quite a bit of weight and am wearing a small size now. I now feel I look good in just about anything I put on. Two years agp I wouldn't have said the same. My style? I like my basics and try to keep up with trends. I'm certainly a clothes horse tho!

I looked better in clothes when I was younger of course, but not bad at 66 either. I have kept in pretty good shape but still not like a 20 year old bod.

I grew up and had very few clothes. Went to a Catholic schools and always uniforms. I never had the money to spend on clothes and I loved clothes.

Now that I am older I have way too many. Can't help myself sometimes.

I do love the fact so many choices and at one time hard to find a things that fit me well. I am only 5 foot and petite but also busty.

My style has changed over the years because my life has changed. I work in an office and jeans and at one time dress up only, church you always dressed up and now anything goes. Easy life style.

I like to look nice but not fussy and comfy too. No more panty hose!! My one brother always said you are the best dressed sister I have. You know how to dress. Thanks bro.

I think the 80's and 90's. I picked these because I was much younger and was at my best. My figure was very nice and my complexion and hair were good. I was young enough and trim enough that I could wear anything I wanted. I loved fashion and loved trendy clothing and I loved buying all the latest things and loved having all the shoes, bags and jewelry to match. I was very into makeup and hair, too! Fashion was such fun for me then --- limitless!

I have always had a love for style and fashion. And I tend to like where I am NOW all the time. Sure looking back to the 80's when I would spike my hair, ok that was a little off. but I was 12. LOL

My style over the years, has been pretty consistent. After college I worked at a very high end men's and women's clothing store. I learned a lot about clothes, fabric, fit. We had a made to measure service in additon to off the rack.

Every since then, I always looked to buy less but better things. If something is super trendy, I might by a cheap verion. But I have found classic styles, in good fabrics, made of good quality last for years and are always in style.

Most of my clothes for any given season, go together. I tend to dress more for my body type. I have a short torso but long legs, so I try to balance those things. As someone else mentioned, I also lost weight since the pandemic started. (See what eating at home can do!) So I feel like everything is looking good. YAY ME.

I don't know when my best style years were. I actually feel I've been full circle in a way. I liked Chico's clothing in my 20's and have now gone back to them mostly! I have never been a really dressy girl, mostly down to earth in jeans and pretty tops. I always worked in scrubs. Of course if the question was when did you look the best?.....LOL I guess like others, in my younger thinner days, even though I am not a big person now, you just looked good all the time back then.

I spent way more on clothes, shoes, hair and makeup before I had my two boys. Looking at pictures from then, I also bought more colorful clothing, but nothing particularly "trendy". I guess I always bought classic styles but I think the designers back then offered more colorful options.

These days I am much more into athletic clothing as it's easier to get something that fits close to the body and is comfortable. When I get around to buying some new clothes this spring, I will probably stick to basics - straight leg pants (jeans, linen, khaki), even hem tops (not the high/low, shark bite), cardigans w/ buttons or zippers, blouses w/ collars and nice linen and no iron cotton button up tunic blouses. I think the dresses and skirts I have will still fit me okay at my smaller size or I will have them taken in a bit.

I do love some of the colors this year - into the lavenders, periwinkle, aqua, etc.

I'm not a good one to answer this question because despite having many internet choices now, I think fashion since the classy 1980's has been sliding into an abyss. From overall quality, quality of fabrics, and styles.

I can always find my classic styles, natural fabrics, and colors, but pickings are thin. It's a hunt now to find the quality at reasonable prices.

Designers I wore in the late 80's are priced three to five times higher. Sure over 30 years have passed, but this is ridiculous. Is everyone's income keeping up with these increased prices? The answer is "NO."

Watching daily The Drew Barrymore Show, I sure like Drew's outfits!

I love her various blouses with ties, vests,

long skirts, trouser pants, etc. Even though I haven't worn a skirt in years.

My look used to be somewhat similar.

Now-a-days, I'm very casual, wearing many of the relaxed and comfortable styles offered and shown at the Q.

I "found" my style back in 1963, and have been refining it over the years.

For a year or so in the 90s, I got into in some difficulty when I "thought outside the box" and ended up with a mess in the closet. I blame QVC - but QVC also got me out of the mess when Linda Dano was on.

I got herbook in 1997 - problem solved - and I was back on track.

Over the years I've added and subtracted - but basically I'm wearing the same things today that I wore when JFK was in the White House.

@ID2 , you recently mentioned, see below, that you have about 10 tops.....I would sure not consider that being a "clothes horse".

I have about 10. I've lost a ton of weight this past year and had to get an entire new wardrobe. This time around I intend to just get by with favorites. No impulse buying, just pretty tops that look good on me.

I've liked my personal fashion style best from the early 2000's through current day. My style is a more of a classic look. I"ve been in banking & finance all these years so my work attire requirement pushed me in the direction of a classic look.

These were taken right before I was sent to work at home full time (March 2020).
