I get overheated easily so I like the idea of these tops.

I like the ones that look like a cotton tee has been layered under the top layer. I also like the ones that have collars and cuffs attached. Those look really sharp.

But...

I used to own a few tops like these in the past. I was disappointed when the extra fabric attached at bottom hem curled up after washing as directed. I also had a beautuful camel sweater with attached satin collar & cuffs, but after washing, it didn't look good. What a shame and a waste of money!

Because of these 2 experiences I probably won't buy any more layered look tops.

Layered Cuff/Hem Tops

I've noticed all the Q designers seem to have brought this trend back. I always thought the trends would reappear after a decade or so, not a few years. These are the tops where they sew in a different fabric at the cuffs, hem, and sometimes neckline. I bought a couple of them a few years ago when I first saw them, thinking it would be something different than a plain tee. Finally tossed them last year after shoving them to the back of my closet. They never looked quite right, the difference in the two fabrics always made them "roll" strangely. Now I've seen Kim Gravel, Isaac Mizrahi, Joan Rivers, and even D&C bring them back. If you like the look, I won't judge, just wanted to state my opinion.

I'm not sure I know exactly what kind of tops you were mentioning in your post. I have in my mind kind of accept fabrics to brighten up the plain material and if so, I think some of them might be nice. Not sure....

@AngelPuppy1 , on the home page under "fall must haves", these 4 were on the first page. Seems Kim & Isaac are making lots of them: A456383, 458539, 383471, 457463. One of the ones I bought a couple years ago was a Martha Stewart. Every time I sat down, the bottom fabric rolled upwards to where I was constantly fixing it. Maybe they've tweaked the design.

I like the look but I don't want one unless all three areas, the collar, cuffs, and hem are included. If one is not done, the entire look is incomplete and looks unfinished. The insets must be a fabric that does not require ironing.

Denim & Co has done some of these tops that are really cute.

I’m tall and appreciate the extra length I get with these tops. It’s no big deal to press the hem down.
