Return max?

Does qvc limit your returns? I ordered about 25 clothing items to build my fall wardrobe. 13 are going back. A friend told me to be careful because she knew someone who had their account completely disabled due to excessive returns. Has anyone heard of qvc doing this? And should I be concerned? (I do order/return quite a bit in general, but my keeps outweigh my returns)

@StillRachB Yes, it does happen that those who abuse the return privilege receive a terse letter of warning and their accounts can be closed if it continues. There doesn't appear to be a set amount but rather a percentage during a set time period.

Rather than worrying about receiving a reprimand for my returns; I'd worry about the amount I was spending on postage to make the returns.

Do they limit your returns? No.

They can limit your ability to continue shopping with them.

@lulu1 I’m odd shaped/sized and it’s difficult to find clothes that work for me. So I don’t mind giving myself lots of options in the hopes that something will work out, even if I have to pay return shipping. I’ve come to terms with it.

I received a letter many years ago and just stopped ordering.

I was getting packages a lot and thought, how could they do this to me?

To be honest, that was the BEST thing that happened to me, it was definitely a wake up call.

I "get" that but there are many other places that have free shipping at least one way. Some even pay both ways.

@StillRachB Returns are a major expense line for most companies. Many have been changing their policies over the years, not just QVC.

Unless they drop you as a customer, I would suggest you try to keep track which brands worked well for you and which styles worked better than others so that you can choose more pieces that work well.

I know I have passed up lots of garments I liked over the years because I detest returns regardless of price and I already know top with little structure almost never work for me any more than long tunics do. And if sweaters and knits are too body skimming, there's no way I would order them.

you can probably tell - I buy almost all my clothes locally where I can try them on.

If you are ordering clothing, you need to start looking at the "click here" in the description of the item. You should have a good idea of what the actual measurements are of garments that fit you.

I no longer receive clothes that do not fit. And you can't do it for just one time with one vendor like Denim and Company, because they have different measurements for literally every item they sell. LOGO is notorious for having so many different measurements for a size medium. And it seems like every pair of pants they sell has a different inseam.

Don't forget all that clothing you are returning has to be repackaged and that is a cost to QVC and we the other customers are picking up the tab.

@Mistreatedbycs many years ago, Macy's asked shoppers who returned too much (no idea what too much was) to stop coming into their stores to shop. I have no idea how many they turned away or if they still do that.

it was a wake up call for me in a way because I worked near a Macy's and used to shop on my way home. I just picked up what I liked from brands and styles I liked and took them home. I wasn't overbuying at that time, so I doubt my returns would have triggered a warning, but I changed my shopping. If I didn't have time or energy to try on items, I just didn't buy them.

That's funny, I too, bought piles of tops and pants from Macy's, took them home to try on and found that even the same brand didn't fit correctly.

I just got sick of going back to the store and returning.

Now, I'll actually take the time to go into the dressing room and trying what I want on. Last week, I took 6 items in and none of them ended coming home with me, that was crazy. I was thinking to myself these could of gone home and I would be returning.

I did break my no clothing Q rule this past summer, bought 3 pieces and returned 2, that's not a good percentage at all. I just ordered a coat from Clearance too, I need to think positive that it will fit.

@StillRachB Are you familiar with the location of the actual garment measurements? As long as you use them, you should have no problem. Some people with specific problems might be better off shopping in stores where they can try on the clothing.

You should call CS and ask them about return limits. Since Q is not very generous with only a 30 day return policy, I would think there is some policy regarding returns, but if you are a regular customer and don't return things very often, that may be a factor. I think they discourage returns by the excessive customer cost for sending things back as well as the short return time period.

Back in the day, a few years back, there was at least one thread a month with somebody complaining they were cut off for too many returns. That was back when the return shipping was free. Then they lowered the shipping to purchase and started charging for the returns if you all remember.
What it boiled down to was that we were all paying upfront for others privilege to return everything for free! I personally don't understand the mindset to order knowing full well you intend to return most of it

oh yes.ive gotten the letter before,and it's really upsetting.i suggest,finding another store,that offers free shipping returns.i felt bad for 2 seconds,then thought to myself,im not the only one who this has happened too

Never heard of such a thing. I think that’s ridiculous if they can limit the amount you buy or return!

I worked for a short time in retail at Macy's about 10 years ago over the Holidays. I can't tell you how many returns people made - clothes and jewelry that had obviously been worn before. I'm not saying anyone here returns clothes to the Q for this reason, but it does have something to do with the return policies that a lot of companies take.

Many of the return items I saw could not be resold...they end up being a loss, and their insurance does not cover all of it. Even if the items you return have only been tried on, they still need to be repackaged, repriced, and placed back in inventory. One return order isn't bad - but several hundred or thousand per day adds up in the costs that a company has to absorb somehow. Yes, it's a cost of doing business in retail, but there are limits.
