Swimsuits?

Currently they are showing a swim dress and passing it off as a swimsuit to wear at the beach or pool, come on they are not swimsuits- QVC shows bras and such but will not selll a typical swimsuit either one piece or two piece- I don't have the best figure but would never consider this Fit 4 U swim dress a bathing suit, you can't even get a tan in these suits- and Jennifer says they are flying out of here, who is buying these things? just my opinion

I actually ordered this immediately for both myself and my mom. For reference Im 29, and love this because it’s like a suit and a cover up all in one. I can get self conscious in some suits, and I liked this because it was youthful while also modest. Some of us don’t want to show our upper thighs, and id argue this is nicer looking than some tankinis with skirt bottoms you can buy which often look matronly.

The swim dress appears it would be perfectly fine to swim in. The skirt is short enough the fabric wouldn't wrap around you at all.

I see people wearing what is called a swim dress as a bathing suit all the time. @Jojo1010 what you purchased is very nice, no matter how you use it.

Different strokes for different folks. A swim dress is not just worn to cover flaws. Mothers with young children who have to do a lot of bending over and chasing after, may prefer not to expose everything.

As for not being able to get a tan in a swim dress; skin cancer is rampant so many people are embracing their natural skin tone.

As far as swimsuits go, there's one for every person's personal taste and need. Just because you don't like it and can't understand how "anyone could wear it" doesn't mean we all share your taste. Many people judge people based on their style of clothes. I've seen people in itty bitty bathing suits that was not a very good look for them, but if they feel ok then who am I to judge? As far as "getting a tan", there are those out there that have or have had skin cancer and like to cover what they can and still be wearing a bathing suit and others whose thighs are not their best feature and feel much better in a suit like that. I know you were looking for validation of your opiinion, but when it comes to clothes on these boards, there are many different opinions which is why there are so many choices.

I started wearing a tankini with a skirted bottom was I was chasing a toddler. That toddler will be 22 this summer and it’s the only kind of suit I’ve worn since. I don’t really need a cover up with it to go inside the club and like that I have almost the same coverage on the backs of my legs as with a golf skirt so my bee-hind isn’t getting sunburned.

If OP is referring to A392819, I like it. Not every one who wears a bathing suit actually goes in the water. Not being able to "get a tan" would be a plus.

(Not meaning to bait or slam OP) but so well said! Agree. Something for everyone, QVC in all fairness to them...lately...is trying to hit everyone in the market they can for all the kinds of bodies and reasons we all buy certain styles, and cuts of clothing. I actually thought it was cute, but I did wonder to myself while watching...would this be seen as "weird" on the beach as a suit? I think it's cute, modest. Not every woman likes "cute", I get that too. Doesn't suit their style.

It was also nice to get a 29 y.o.'s take on it here. I'm older, athletic, petite, in shape, but have worn skirted two pieces for several years...they are just more flattering on my "curvy bottom" and thighs. I know other women my age, longer, leaner body types can still rock a bikini. Just not my thing anymore even when I could pass it off...just like a more modest look now. Anyway, to those who got this, enjoy~I thought Jen looked cute in it. Maybe it does look more like a little dress than swimsuit, but sometimes I go to the beach and just keep my sundress on until I swim anyway...and I'm not hiding bad figure flaws, I just don't always feel like "hangin' all out."

If I were doing serious swimming then I like a regular one piece swimsuit (don’t like the extra material floating around). But if I were at the ocean, walking the beach, looking for shells but not planning on going in swimming, then I like the swim dress for more coverage. So I own different style suits for different purposes.

@arizona babe Your opinion is fine as your opinion, but why wrap it in an insult of "who is buying these things?" Geesh.

QVC just has a Jantzen one-piece bathing suit as a TSV just last month. It sold out, if I remember correctly. Plus, there are lots of bathing suits on QVC's website -- of all designs. Plenty of bikinis, one-pieces, tankinis, boy shorts, swim dresses, separates, etc.

@arizona babe really?? can't understand? not everyone wants to show off their upper thighs. and getting a tan? i wouldn't dream of laying in the sun for even a brief amount of time. i've been known to swim in crop length spandex shorts, and a short sleeve spandex type turtleneck. the sun is not your friend.

I think there is a swimsuit for everyone's needs.

I do swim and exercise a lot in pool so for me a simple one piece, no skirts, no frills, no ruching - when I get out of pool robe on / or I shower and change - may sit and read but I do not sunbathe. So for me one piece suit works. Same at beach.

Most of suits shown at Q seem to have skirts or cover ups which is good for ladies who require this so there is something for everyone depending on your needs.

I agree! Sometimes when staying at resort I feel uncomfortable going inside to use the restroom, etc. It is nice to have something where I feel more covered up.

If one is very actively swimming, a skirted suit is not for you. A skirt can be more modest, as can board shorts. I see both of those.

They should get rid of the skirts and make one piece bathing suits. They are an improvement over a skirt. They even have a QVC definition for tankini. A tank and a skirt. At the mall, a tankini is a tank and a bikini bottom. Swimsuit to QVC is swimming around in a skirt. If you want modesty, wear a wet suit.
