On 3/10/2014 Grace K said: Jonbon I will get tired of it when Carolyn and Leah tell the truth or when someone proves me wrong. If any of you have watched them on QVC for a few years, it should be obvious that they have grown wider and wider. So it is impossible to remain the same size (LARGE) and continue to gain weight. Please don't insult my intelligence or anyone else's who can see what I clearly see. The others only dream the same dream Carolyn and Leah do. Perhaps someone is telling them to say that they are a size LARGE. In that case, what happened to truth in advertising? And what happens to ladies who believe them and then constantly have to return things because they don't fit? And please stop the stories about hi def cameras! Any excuse... as for the poster who said that everyone knows that size 12-14 is not plus size, maybe so. Or for the poster who was insulted by the word obesity. Have you ever heard the clinical definition of obesity? Do your BMI. Check the charts. Some, not all, will be surprised.

So what??

Let's face it - regardless of how many times QVC saleswomen, Susan Graver, etc. say that teen and 20-something daughters will want to wear their stuff, I can't imagine anyone under 50 wearing anything they well, esp. the shoes/sandals.

And I definitely appreciate the fact that ALL sizes are priced the same, unless in retail stores.

However, why not have some 50-70 y/o women MODEL the items???

QVC is in it for the $$$ and if younger models sell the items, that's what they are going to do. I also shop with Pendletons Catalogue where the models are 25-30 years old, thin and gorgeous. Same shopper demographic.

Well......I totally agree with you. I think there should be models who are actually a real size 2X or 3X. Why should someone watching TV, buying a size 2 or 3X size, have to 'visualize' what a shirt, blouse, etc, should look like were she to buy that?

I think the OP posted her question very well. I also agree with the OP that some the models should be older.

I'll go a step farther to say I'd like to see darker skinned women as models. More women of color who are darker skinned, not just older.

I could say more but I'll stop at that.

I think most of QVC's models do a fine job. If you disagree, feel free to send in your own portfolio with your suggestions to hire more models who look like the average customer. Maybe QVC could hold a contest like the 50 in 50 Tour except looking for the next QVC models instead of the next big product. They could ask Tyra Banks to give them some suggestions.

I sometimes think the models look silly in the clothes that you can tell are designed for older women or women with more curves. They do not wear all clothes well I don't think. They look silly as much as I do in something not designed for me either. I would love to hear what they say when they have to wear something that they just don't like or find to be awful on.

I received a magazine yesterday advertising the new clothes they have and all the models are young and very pretty. The clothes they had on I could never wear at this age but the thing is this store does not cater to this age group so why show just that age. I would think they would want to show a variety of models in different age groups. Different styles for each age group.

The reason so many plastic surgeries on the stars is young is beautiful and the heck with the rest of you is thrown in everybody's face. The young and the beautiful.

When I was younger I was too busy for all those clothes because I was raising a family and busting my hump to make ends meet and I didn't have the money for all these things back then when it would have looked the best on me. The magazine and the store disappointed me because I buy most of my clothes there and none of what they were showing would come close to what I would buy. Not everyone is tall, very thin and no bust or short and dumpy with big bust either. Average would be nice. Just because you are older doesn't mean you are fat either. I see a lot of older women in better shape than some of the younger ones running around.

Can't please us all and my fav is all this anti aging beauty products being demonstrating on someone that doesn't really need it.

I watch the shows and decide what items would look best on me and what wouldn't. I don't fool myself and don't usually buy from TV but if something doesn't look good on a model I think it isn't for everybody either.

I have to say I think the models on QVC do a great job and a variety of body types too. I don't really care about their age and they are hired to do a job and they seemed to be loyal to the shows they do too.

I think body shape is more important than age or size or height.

I'm probably 40 years older than Katya ... with the same body shape but not as tall and not as thin.

If I like the way it looks on her - I know it will work for my shape. I really don't need to see the item on someone my age.

What matters to me is how the item falls from the shoulders and drapes and skims the body.

ETA: And the location and position of the pockets.

On 3/9/2014 wildcat fan said:
I think most of QVC's models do a fine job. If you disagree, feel free to send in your own portfolio with your suggestions to hire more models who look like the average customer. Maybe QVC could hold a contest like the 50 in 50 Tour except looking for the next QVC models instead of the next big product. They could ask Tyra Banks to give them some suggestions.

Sorry, I'm still too busy raising my kids to bother with relocating. If they'd come here for the shoots, I'd consider it.

And Ms. Banks is a savvy business woman who would tell them, no doubt, to continue using the young, thin models.

Every time this topic comes up the real answer is seldom stated. It's that it's a known fact that for showing off clothes best it's wide spread belief that tall thin women have the best body type to do so. This is how the modeling industry came to be one dominated by tall thin women because that's what the agencies look for when they hire. When an agency gets a call for a plus model the client is looking for a size 10 (they may accept a 12). The Shopping channels have been instrumental in getting their modeling agencies to hire some size 14 models to represent plus size. Models under 5'4" are an even greater rarity, and frankly I've never seen a fashion model under 5'4" who wears a size 14 or larger.

Actually, I think that QVC has quite a range of sizes, shapes, and colors of models. (and what does color have to do with the way clothes fit a body?) I see all those tall, skinny models and then try to picture the clothes on someone 7 inches shorter. Ahem.
