Do you find this expression offensive? Last night, Kim G. kept calling everyone, "Hey, Girl....". ...I know it's a Southern thing and I hear it often, just not sure I like it.

BTW, purchased the tee with elbow length sleeves and tie on the side A 289018 in black, white (duh?) and twilight (navy). So cute!!

That doesn't bother me at all and I've been called much worse, LOL!

As a born and raised southerner, I disagree that it's a 'southern thing', I don't hear it being widely used in my state (GA).

it’s like most language - depends on the speaker and the receiver. I have heard so many negative names directed at people for so long, my receiver is off except in person.

It doesn' t really bother me. I don't say that but I have called my friends "girlfriend" at times.

Cute top @shanus , it seems to be too tight on Shawn in the video though, I would size up in that one, but that's me. Hope you like it.

@LindaSal The hosts are stuck on that vanity sizing of XXS or XS whether it fits or not. I always order a medium top (shocker for a peitie), but I have very broad shoulders. I also like roomy tops that don't pull across the chest or grab when you raise your arms....especially in warmer weather. ***Wish these designers would do some pastels for spring/summer. Not everyone can wear these overly bright shades. I'd love a blush pink and a pale blue.

No. Not offended by it at all.

My friends and I tend to use it occasionally...Girrrl...it's cute. No biggie.

"Offended" in my book is saved for way bigger things....that actually were said to insult me. Intention is everything. Kim is just connecting to the "girlfriends" in all of us. I'm from up North, and say it occasionally...but, yes, I agree....it feels like a southern thing to me...but then...I have a few southern friends, and we say it to one another...term of endearment to us.

My midwestern girlfriend just called me this recently - I'm fromthe northeast.

I can't say I find it offensive. Just kind of silly. There always has to be some new word or phrase.

@Shanus That word does not irritate/offend me...BUT when some one calls me HON, SWEETIE, etc. it ruffles my feathers. I find it condesending.

I originated in the Midwest and have been in the South for 30 years. I find "Hon" more offensive that "Girl". As far as I know, Hon is a southern thing. My husband picked up the habit of saying Hon to female servers at restaurants. I cringe everytime he uses that term. I think it is being overly friendly to someone he doesn't know.

If you know someone does not mean what they say in an offersive way then why be offended? Aren't there enough things to get in an uproar about. I'm not terribly bothered by the small things like @KingstonsMom said. I prefer to be offended by the big stuff.

I don't find it offensive especially because that is just part of Kim's appeal. She is trying to connect and be friendly and personal. I guess some would like her to say hey ladies. Now the term "gals" I find offensive. When I hear people refer to the gals at the makeup counter or their hair stylist as my gal or to the gals in the office. That for some reason sounds condescending at least to me.

I find nothing offensive about it. Like @Lali1 said there are enough things to get upset about.

People use various slang terms . Some people get stuck in using the same slang terms from yrs ago . I just knock it up to their individuality . I prefer to avoid slang .

What I find offensive is all the name calling that you hear on TV , that includes the news channels , reality shows, movies, documentaries .

I don't consider it a southern thing because it's not... It doesn't bother me unless it's excessive, which in recent times it has often become... That said, I don't get my nose out of joint because someone opts for the word 'girl' instead of 'woman' in the course of conversation or when viewing something written, unless there's an obvious attempt at condescension... I'm not that persnickety...

I've heard it in the Midwest too. I feel weird when someone I don't know calls me "hon".
