Think this is worth $114.00 (Barefoot Dreams)?

Well I thought it was cute. Looked good on Jennifer (I think it's her) and we're both the same size. Good colors too. I went to order through speed purchase and was shocked over the total. $124.00 for a top! It was 75% nylon 25% rayon. Item number is: A392219 All colors available. I never ordered from Barefoot dreams before. How are they?

They are a substantial weight and very soft, however, IMO they are not worth the prices charged. In the end, it's just a synthetic yarn sweater, not a natural luxury fiber.

I have something similar in teal that I purchased on sale at a casino for $10. The only difference between Barefoot Dreams & the casino version is that the casino's name is stitched on the front.

@Kachina624 I agree. The colors are great. I wanted the Sea Cliff (green) it's on waist list on my size. I was floored by the price. Department Stores clothing is high....but they are natural fibers. I would have loved it in Cashmere. It's a very cute top and flattering. It look great on Jennifer.

Well, I just bought a couple of beautiful cashmere sweaters on sale for under $100 each, so $114 for Barefoot Dreams? Nope. I have several BD pieces and I love them. But with the exception of a hoodie that I bought as a TSV, they were all purchased on substantial markdowns of at least 50% from Nordstrom Rack.

barefoot dreams is a favorite of mine and i have paid that and more for other items in the line. this particular item does not appeal to me so i woul not purchase it, but the materials are so soft, wear like iron, and are totally worth the pricing. if you can find them a bit cheaper, even better!

i purchase them from qvc, nordstrom rack, nordstrom, and their website.

No, I would not pay this much for a nylon/rayon sweater.

I love the design because it's a V-neck, pullover sweater -- with a collar. That v-neck with a collar is very hard to find (at least I cannot find it), and it's my favorite. But I will not pay that price.

I remember when BD claim to fame was it was made with bamboo. I actually own one that has bamboo on its contents tag. Now they are all polyester and rayon. Like the last tsv v neck sweater. So average.

There is a boucle BD cardigan hanging on the coat rack where I volunteer. It's been there a couple months. It looks awful. It's like something you'd buy at Woolworths.

I guess you would have to figure out if it's worth the money. How often would you wear it. Where I live it would only be worn a few times. It would potentially last me decades or until I got sick of it.

@songbird I purched A381888 CozyChic womans half zip in the same weight and love it. It was on sale and worth what I paid. The neckline with the collar on the one you are looking at is not a good look on me so I will have to pass. I enjoy all the BD pieces I have, most on TSV but have also paid full price. IMHO price is a personal choice and I am not sorry I made the choice to buy. So short answer, yes, to me they are worth it, especially on sale.

I agree with @mspatmac in that value is subjective. What's important to you? What makes a garment worth the price? You're the only one that can answer that.

I post a lot of tempting pieces from Sundance but I've only purchased three times. Someone asked me if I thought it was worth the price. Sundance is worth it to me because I find the pieces beautiful AND unique. The consideration is always whether or not I can afford it at the time.

Generally fabrication is a consideration when spending my money i.e. I am not spending as much on poly as I would spend on silk or cashmere but I think that's just common sense

Considering there's a lot of cashmere available for the same or less than what you'd be paying for this nylon rayon sweater I would have to say it's not worth the price to me.

@scatcat. I guess if it's hanging it does look awful. Hung knits stretch and lose their shape. It's not the sweater's fault it has been mishandled.

I do not blink at spending a lot of money on a clothes item if it is of high quality, great design and something I think is worth the price. I shop at Saks, NM, Bloomies, Macy's et al. One of my favorites, Lord & Taylor, is almost giving away all of its clothes at 80% off as it goes into bankruptcy. (Cashmere sweaters for under $30.00!!)

In my personal opinion, BD is a bit high priced at the regular price for the quality of the items. Yes, they are soft and nice, but we are paying a bit for the name, just like overpaying for sterling silver at Tiffany's.

I have now bought two BD items, both from QVC at special sale prices, and I find that the "lite" fabric is not warm enough for me. It is a bit thin and stretchy as well.

The sweater I really like is the seaside crew neck pullover, very thick and warm, but I only like one pattern/color, and so will not order any more.

I always say that new items at QVC are often high prices, unless they are TSVs. Wait a bit and the price usually drops. Wait half a year and the item will be on clearance. Wait a year or two and the item will be at the outlets for pennies.
