My first experience around age 38 with jeans was trying on 21 pairs involving different brands and sizes, walked out of the store with none. I was a size 4.

I never had such a ridiculous experience with clothing. Never again, but, then, I'm not a jeans person, so it's not a big deal.

I can imagine what a few extra pounds would do to the fit.

My jeans are currently residing in the deep, dark recesses of my closet! They shall remain there for an undetermined period of time. I am not brave enough to acknowledge them at this current time!

@ECBG Seriously, I live in jeans, so it was more than necessary to find a solution. I look for a softer denim fabric, no matter what wash. When I find a brand that fits, I stock up in all colors. I purchase my exact size for when I ever go out (lol) and a size up ( to be like girlfriend jeans) and more comfie for lounging around...still in that softer denim. I prefer a true jean over the knit ones or those that pull on with elastic waists.

I like NYDJ...they make a softer/lighter fabric that's summer weight. That's what I wear 4 seasons.I also wear Laurie Felt silky denim. Yes, both expensive, but last for many years.....NYDJ less $$$ at Nord. Rack and on sale at other locations.

If you have a dog/cat, extra shedding does not stick to denim like it does to cotton knit pants. So, for me it's jeans by default. Thank you, Molly.

Glad NYDJ are working for you. Their pieces are SO attractive. When I styled at Dillards, I found sizing for different style numbers varied widely, which killed me since they were the best looking denim in the market.

Now, I am loving our denim. Very lux!
