The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today learned about projects supporting young people with mental health problems, facing homelessness or drug and alcohol issues, as their tour of Ireland continued.

William and Kate were in Dublin as they visited Jigsaw, the national centre for youth mental health in Ireland, which provides vital support across a range of one-to-one, community, school and online services.

The couple met young people supported by the charity and joined a conversation with community campaigners, teachers, parents and coaches about the impact of Jigsaw's work within their respective communities.

I can't help but wish that two well dressed ambassadors of the Queen could really make an impact on mental illness, homelessness, alcoholism, and drug abuse. This thought occurred to me as I thought of the chasm between the lives of privilege and despair.

I thought the coat looked familiar.

Kate was pictured wearing it in January 2008 for her birthday party and at William's graduation ceremony from the RAF in April of the same year.

They are the best representatives of that Royal family. Will chose well when he married Kate! I enjoy reading about them as well as their cute children.

Whenever William and Kate visit places where they are helping those in need or trying to make a positive difference, they look professional and low key. While the are dressed classy and elegant, they fit in and have the trust of the people. They don't say look at my fashion, they say I am here to listen and help. That to me is admirable.

Will and Kate learned about sustainable farming this afternoon as their tour of Ireland continued after meeting young people facing mental health issues, homelessness or drug and alcohol problems.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on the second day of their official royal tour of Ireland, and visited Teagasc Animal and Grassland Research Centre in Grange, County Meath, this afternoon.

They spoke to a group of farmers who are using the research in their own practices and met primary school children visiting the farm, joining in a session to learn about the environment, nutrition, and food production.

Earlier in the day the couple also joined young people cooking and playing table tennis as they visited Savannah House in County Kildare, a residential facility run by social justice charity Extern.

Before they left the couple met a group of schoolchildren from Kiltale National School who gave then a presentation about food, farming and nutrition.

Evelyn Donoghue, 12, said afterwards: 'They were really interested and the duchess said a lot about our health had do with sleeping and getting outdoor and getting fresh air.'

Asked how it was to meet the couple, she declared: 'Splendid!'
