A first , QVC made me cry.

I caught the opening of Kourtney's new show , and she talked about growing up in an area that she didn't see any one that looked like her, being Persian and when she found fashion it changed her whole outlook on life. We take for granite when we are the majority. Any way i was really moved.

Is this her first show or something? I’ve seen with Shawn, especially during the holidays. She a beautiful young lady and I’m certain she will settle down. She is giving it the “old college try”. I understand how she feels living in the Middle East when I was younger.

It is her new Dare to Share Fashion. It was a real moment ,not poor pitiful me and she moved right on.

Oh geez! This is a shopping channel! This isn't the OWN channel. What's with all this touchy feely stuff? ? ? Are these people auditioning for some Hollywood show?

QVC is really desperate if they think these"touching" moments will increase sales.

I'm a minority woman and I thought her comment about her ethnicity was out of line, imo...has nothing to do with fashion.

Yes it just a shopping channel , but she is a human being that shared a less than a minute feeling about herself how finding something you love can change your whole attitude about life. Wasnt about being a minority , it could be something else for another person , being over weight or any thing that makes a person feel less than adequate inside , even if it is only in your own mind.

I think she grew up at the end of the blue eyed-blonde being the standard of beauty in this country. I suppose if she was in a sea of blonde ingenues, she would have felt inadequate. But then the dark hair/dark eye/full brows came into fashion and she had what everyone wanted and her's was natural. Whatever. It's that Bare All campaign and they probably all had to come up with a sad story and that's all she had to work with.

That is good SilleeMe , but sometimes it is tough growing up being different , i am just glad i didn't grow up in the age of social media. It seems even harder for kids in school now. There has always been bullies in school but now they sit behind a phone or computer and tear others down for not being the norm.

I respect her feelings but I know the region she grew up in very well. There is no abscence of brown people, biracial, multicultrural persons, american indian , latino etc. It is a diversified area.

Yes this thread needs to go , i would never have posted it if i thought it would be a problem , i will be more careful next time not to post anything that could be problematic , so that would be almost never. Back to Beauty and TV and Movies.

When I was growing up the "majority" of girls around me were thin. I was not. I too didn't see any one that "looked like me". And "fashion changed her life"? Fashion changed my life too. My mother bought my clothes in the chubby department. Embarrassing and exiling to say the least. And some find her story "touching"?....."moved to tears". Really? Children, adolescents, young people all have difficulties, struggles, painful and challenging experiences. Some have speech impediments, deformities, learning difficulties, debilitating illnesses as well as racial differences. Growing up we have all felt like a square peg trying to fit in the round hole. We've all longed to "be like others". To be like the "popular kids". To be accepted for who we are and not experience the pain of rejection. To use your experience as an intro to sell clothing or anything else for that matter seems shallow. Kourtney, you're supposed to be a specialist in your field. Presenting the item should not be about you. So, "fashion changed your life, and your whole outlook on life". What about those who could not afford to throw themselves into the same comfort you discovered? Can you not sell the product based on the Quality of the item? The Value of the item? And the Convenience of purchasing the item from QVC? That is what the company was founded on. Not the sharing of a hosts personal experiences designed to make one feel, what? Wrong for not including the Persian girl amongst the American girls? Guilty and compassion for this now privileged individual, when she once felt not so privileged. It's fine to say fashion is a passion of yours, but to link it to a "life changer" because you didn't see any Persian girls like you is not fine. Growing up is tough for all. Any race, any size, anything that makes us so called "different".
