Maybe it's exacerbated by your seatbelts? I've never had this happen but I'm trying to imagine what other factor must be in play in order for your sweater/shirt to be rubbing against your button hard enough to create tears....

Perhaps a quick front tuck before you strap on the belt? You can always pull it back out when you get out of the car..

This is odd, but does anyone else have problems with their shirts/sweaters rubbing around their zipper and getting tiny holes? It's so frustrating!! I have ruined some of my most favorite sweaters! I couldn't figure out for the longest time what the problem was, but I think I have figured it out. Guess I need to wear undershirts to cover the zippers. Plus, I just ordered some pants that pull on and don't have any zippers.

Aren't the zippers covered by, what's it called, the placket? The bit of fabric the covers up the zipper when the garment is on.

Yeah, so that's why I was puzzled. I get these tiny holes right around where the zipper is, though. Then after I was it, the holes get bigger. So frustrating.

You're not the only one. I've ruined so many tops/blouses so I researched online what was causing these tiny holes (they do get bigger). It's not the zippers, but the button on your pants/jeans that are rubbing against the shirt.

I ordered LicketyKlip from Amazon (they also have their own website) and I never get any holes!!! I was so excited to discover this product. It's not perfect, but it works. Also, sold on Etsy are Shirt Guardian button covers that you leave on -- probably easier than taking the LicketyKlip on and off when going the bathroom.

Several years ago that happened to me as well, and I finally figured out it was one pair of jeans putting those holes in every sweater I wore, including my lovely cashmere ones.

I never figured out exactly what caused it on those jeans as yes there was a placket over the zipper teeth, but it might have been roughness on the zipper pull or something in the denim fabric, one weird thread or a rough spot.

I quit wearing those jeans except for chores with a top I didn't worry about. They are gone now, need a smaller size now and new styles.

I ruined so many nice tops until I figured out that it was the button on my pants that was causing it. I no longer buy pants unless they have a clasp that is concealed or (heaven forbid) they are pull on. I'm sure the button cover would work, but I don't like the extra bulk around my waist.

Zippers are absolute killers as far as knits are concerned. Buckles are another killer.

I won’t buy or wear anything work exposed zippers or buckles.

Handbags are among the worst. Buckles on shoes have ruined some pants.

Nope. I can't even see how that would happen. All pant zippers are covered by the placket. The zippers don't come into contact with my tops.

Yes, I have had this problem. But it was the button on my jeans -- not the zipper -- rubbing on my shirts. It turns out that, at my height, the waistband of my jeans falls just about at the height of my kitchen counters. As I leaned in while doing things in the kitchen or washing dishes at the sink (probably the major factor) it rubbed against the fibers in the knit fabrics and wore tiny holes in them.

I've started pulling my top over the seat belt once it's buckled so there is no rubbing. Of course I tuck nothing in so that makes it easy.
