Numeric Sizing

Do you like it? I am too intimidated to order by numeric size! I know that I am a solid QVC size small and 99 times out of 100 i can count on a small size garment to fit. But when it comes to numeric sizing I am lost. I am afraid to order and not have it fit and have to deal with a dreaded return. I also see a lot of complaints that the garment sizing given on the website is inconsistent/incorrect. So, if something is numeric sizing, I just don't buy.

I only buy numeric sizing from a store I already know my size. Otherwise, you never know how an unknown brand may fit.

@SuzeecatThat's why I use the measurements especially carefully for numeric sizing.

Doesn't seem to matter where I shop because the sizing varies everywhere I go and in all the price ranges. Last spring before I came north for the summer, I did some shopping at one of the boutiques I like - bought one size 8, one size 8 top as well as 2 marked Large (all priced within a few dollars of each other. Also came home with a pair of size 10 pull-on ankle pants.

Those size large tops and the size 8 all fit well.. From the same brand as the 2,a different style in the same size was so tight on me even the saleswoman seemed surprized.

Find the measurements for a top you like and use them as your guide.

generally speaking you'll get a more precise fit so I prefer numbered sizes.

Much of the Q's offerings are SO stretchy I'm convinced most any non plus sized lady can get in to an xxs!

As long as I can see the garment measurements ... I have no issue with whether letter sizing or number sizing.

For my body shape - my two key measurements are bust (for tops) and waist (for pants).

I only wear certain styles, and I know my body measurements and I know how much ease I need for woven fabrics vs. knit fabrics while taking individual garment shape into consideration.

I much prefer numeric sizing in pants. S, M, L don't fit me properly in pants. Tops don't matter to me.

@Andreatoo, I'm not plus-size but I cannot get into an XXS. LOL I would look like 2 pounds of sausage in a 1 pound casing.

Agree, to me it also boils down to where it is manufacturered . The sizing for small- medium & large ect work for me as I am currently between 2 numerical sizes .

I no longer buy from QVC for various reasons........ but when clothes shopping anywhere, I prefer numbered sizes for my bottoms, and XS-S for my tops. I always want to try on clothing before I buy it - tops or bottoms.

I don’t like the numbered sizing, prefer the letter. At 5’ 10.5” and an apple with long legs, I have found that the numbered sizes would fit in the waist but be huge in the legs and hips. If they fit in the hips & legs, then the waist wouldn’t.

The letter sizes are more forgiving which is what I need.

I'm not crazy about it and avoid it. Every time I use the numeric size (no matter which size I pick since my measurements seem to be inbetween) I have to return the item for another size. Sometimes it fits and sometime it doesn't. I think the problem is that the quality control when they cut the garment is not happening. There does seem to be a bit more flexibility in the s/m/l, etc sizing but not much...again qulity control.

I do check the measurements and garment measurements guide but still it's a 50/50 guess. They all state "running true to size" when asked but that's not been my experience.

I prefer numeric sizing, I like a custom fit. Especially when it comes to pants.

For clothes, I buy numerical sizes. It's the most accurate. I'm a 2 in dresses and tops, & slacks.(I'm a XXS at QVC...the few times I buy). Mall stores if they are letter sizes then I'm a S (usually for jackets ) Waist sizes I'm a 25, for jeans. I won't buy jeans that are in numerical whole sizes (2, 4, 6, etc)
