NYDJ TS and sizing

I do not understand why they just do not correct the size chart rather than tell you constantly to SIZE DOWN. It must be a marketing ploy to make you feel better wearing a size smaller than you should be wearing.... but to me it is just wasted air time. They constantly harp about buying a size smaller...... JUST FIX THE SIZE CHART to show what size to buy. Do not tell me to buy one size down from what I NORMALLY BUY.

Also constantlymentioning Oprah's name on each show like THAT is going to make me want the pants ? HUH?

I remember years ago, Oprah had a segment on her show about buying jeans that fit.... and she was harping that no one should buy jeans that have more than 2% spandex in them.....

Now Oprah is wanting us to wear 14% spandex..... like what is up with that? Does not make me believe a thing she says..... she will put her name on anything that pays her to push it.

I totally agree with you. The sizing dilemma is ridiculous!!!!! How about just using a universal size chart that actually goes by measurements of the body????? Vanity sizing, size down, what the heck!!??? Total nonsense. They can't even get the real sizes correct, how about working on that problem???

I wear these jeans and wear my regular size. I wear the same size in all my jeans. I do not know why they keep saying size down.

I'm curious about this sizing myself ... even though I have no intention of buying them.

I bought a pair at Chico's a few months ago ... and bought my usual size. They fit fine.

I'm wondering if this is just a gimmick for QVC - and an opportunity for rather "iffy" behavior by the vendor rep.

I have always thought this is just another marketing gimmick.  Subconsciously a woman is supposed to believe that she wears a smaller size in this brand.  Smoke and mirrors;  anything to get your money.  Some people are influnced by the size tag.  I believe how something fits is more mportant that a number or letter on the tag.

There are a lot of women who have said they cannot size down in this brand of jeans. I don't even understand the size chart. They put it up but are we not supposed to follow it? Because everytime it's up they say to size down but the size chart isn't indicating bigger sizes than usual for each size.

As I posted in the TSV forum, there are too many styles of NYDJ and you really need to find the style that's right for your body shape. I wouldn't order these. It requires a trip to the store to get the right style and size.

There is also nothing special about this price.

My Costco is selling this brand of Jean for $29.95. I would try them by just do not need more jeans.

I was looking at the size chart this morning. If I went by their measurements, I would buy one size larger than my normal size. I have plenty of jeans in my normal size that fit me just fine. I do not need more jeans and would never spend even the TSV price for a pair. And constantly touting "Oprah" makes me not want to buy them. I am not one of her fans.

Your reply reminded me of something from about 20 years ago.

At one point in my (adult) life - I lost a lot of weight and was able to fit into a size 4. I used to joke that I was going to cut out the size tag, add some sequins and pin it to the front of my dress!

If I have any question about what size to order - especially with pants and shoes - I will not order. I can't be bothered with the inconvenience or the cost of returning something. So, basically, the only pants I order from QVC are Women With Control, which really covers all my pant requirements. And, I never order shoes, I only purchase shoes when I can try them on (i.e. in a store) first.

I am not buying and I am not watching. This is just hype and these jeans are not life-changing. Stop it, QVC.

The desperation is showing.

We all know what vanity sizing is and using Oprah as a sales tool just confirms that you cannot sell a product on its merits. You need a hook and I am not taking the bait.

How lame can you get?

I think it's smart of them to say this - I'm a b&m shopper where sales associates have frequently suggested sizing down from the size I'd buy in some other brands.

It's very possible that QVC's computers tell them they are getting more exchanges and it's also possi ble plenty of shoppers don't check the size charts but just buy their "usual" size.

I have worn NYDJ for years, and they have talked about sizing down for awhile; it's not just a QVC thing. I wear my regular size. I bought them when I was a 16W and now when I am a 2. When I was a plus size, I loved the boot cut (Barbara) and the trouser style, and I felt great in them. Now, I really like the Marilyn and the Sheri slim. You don't size down from their chart. You follow their sizing chart, which they say is generally lower than the Q's sizing. Just look at the NYDJ chart and order that size. I do agree that the way they say it is very confusing.

The people griping about Oprah are making me shake my head. Seriously, these were well-known and were carried in Dillard's, Nordstrom, etc. long before the Oprah cover. Oprah is not trying to tell you what to wear.

When they recommend to size up or down when presenting I always do and never have had to return anything. Once I know my size in a brand I like I know I will always get a good fit. So many women I see are wearing a size too big in their jeans and they look saggy but I don't care what anyone wears, I want a snug near perfect fit in my jeans or I won't wear them!!
