Rayon jumpsuit problem

I received a 100% rayon jumpsuit a few weeks ago. I steamed it and hung it up. Put it on last night to go out and it seemed to fit very differently. The armholes were too big (bra could be seen), the length was longer than I remembered, the back was more gaping/blousy than I recalled. I didn't have time, I was in a rush so I just wore it and went to dinner. Today it suddenly dawned on me that it was behaving like what happens to maxi dresses made of stretchy material when you hang them, they get longer and longer and longer. I did not think this could happen to 100% rayon, but it seems like it did! Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix for it? I'm afraid to wash it (even though care label says machine wash) because bad things can happen to rayon in the wash. Any advice is appreciated. It's a really cute jumpsuit.

@Grouchomarx Was it a knit rayon or woven rayon? Knit rayon grows if you put it on a hanger. You can wash it cold water and line dry, not with clothespins, just drape it over a line, kind of like if half.

Woven rayon tends to shrink.

If you wash it, once it's dried, either find a way to store it folded in a drawer or fold it in half and put it on a hanger. Like you would pants

It is a woven rayon, silky;flowy kind of finish to it. Not a knit type (no stretch at all to it).

@Grouchomarx wow, then I don't know how to advise you. I've had 100% rayon blouses and tunics in the past that were more likely to shrink. Never had one grow on me.

I have problems with lots of designer's garments now, many use Rayon. I don't buy any LOGO tops anymore because of not being able to hang them. Same with Soft Surroundings, most of their tops stretch out too

like @Bird mama , I too have had rayon shrink after washing in cold water and on gentle cycle. once ironed, it went back to shape.

Update: I washed it and line dried it and it’s back to its normal size! Hooray! Now I’ve gotta figure out how to store it so it won’t stretch again but yet isn’t totally wrinkled when I want to wear it. This is a real problem with maxi dresses too.
