One of the things I loved about clothes shopping with QVC is that the sizing was supposed to be the same regardless of which designer you purchased. I feel like that’s changed over the past year. I’m shopping my normal QVC size, yet the pieces are either too big or too small.

The other night I saw a Denim & Co. presentation and all the models said they sized up. In a NYDJ show they were bragging about needing to size down. I’ve also noticed that many brands are now saying that you need to refer to their size guide, not QVC’s.

This is really disappointing. I’m spending a fortune on returns.

Is anyone else having similiar problems?

I really love shopping on QVC but they need to go back to having all of their designers use the same size guides.

I don't see any difference from what it's always been. Some lines do run a little smaller than others but they've always been that way. Same as department store sizing.

Studying and using the actual garment measurements will go a long way toward preventing costly returns.

I've had so many sizing problems with items I've ordered from QVC, I've wondered the same thing. Who do we blame for sizing inconsistencies? QVC? or the individual brands? When I order 2 exact items from a brand on QVC - same item and size, different color - and one is too big and the other too small, is that the fault of QVC? or the designer/brand?

I used to order lots of D&Co, Dialogue, Joan Rivers, etc., back when I worked full time. I ordered my usual size and every single clothing item I received from QVC fit perfectly. I ordered the same size in every brand and never had to return anything because of fit issues. In the last 2-3 years, I've only kept one item of clothing. Nothing else I've ordered from any brand sold on QVC has fit correctly. My body hasn't changed sizes - the clothing at local clothing stores hasn't changed sizes - it's just the clothes I've ordered from QVC.

Or I'm just unlucky.

I feel the same way. I had a few favorite brands that ran consistant and always fit. Now I hesitate to purchase because I cannot count on the measurements. Too bad because I pass on so many items because returns are so expensive. Also I find quality has gone down and prices have gone way up.

Is it a relaxed fit or a slimmer cut; is there stretch in the garment, or is it a rigid fabric; etc. Not all garments of a particular size are meant to have the same measurements.

I do agree that it's frustrating that one can order multiples of the same item in the same size and receive garments that do not fit the same. Unfortunately, that's not just a QVC phenomenon. For example, when I try on jeans, I always try on multiple pairs in my size (if they're available; I have also ordered two of the same size to try at home if it's something I really wanted) to find the best fit.

Also, I'm not sure that the generic "fit guide" size charts (which refer to body measurements) are the place I would go first to try to figure things out -- as others have stated, the individual garment measurements are probably much more helpful.

I think that "QVC sizing" thing left the building years ago. There are too many designers and clothing vendors now for them to restrict themselves to QVC sizing. I know my measurements, I know how I like my clothes to fit so I check the size charts before I order.

@Foxxee I totally agree with everything you said. If and when I ordered from QVC...I always read the reviews to see if I can get a feel on how sizing is running. If it’s a brand new item, I’ll search for a similar style by that Brand. And I AWAYS look at the item measurements. And with all of those steps done...I still end up with things being too big or too small. It’s crazy. And expensive.

Besides the sizing issue, I have a hard time with their prices, especially the pricing on their private labels like Denim & Co. Once you take their inflated prices, add in shipping charges...and possibly return shipping prices, it just doesn’t make sense to purchase from Q.

PLEASE NOTE...I am not saying people who do shop here are foolish...we all get to decide what works for us. But I KNOW I can catch sales either at B&M stores, or online stores.

For example, I buy a lot of stuff from Lands End, and I get free shipping and because I’m a relatively frequent shopper, I wait until I get a 40% off my order email...because Lands End rewards their customers. That’s just one example of why I rarely purchase clothing from Q.

I’ve been a customer with QVC since 1989...and I used to buy almost all of my clothes here, at one time...including my darn underwear. 😄

I ordered and received a pair of slacks a few months ago that were too short for me so I measured them - they were over an inch shorter than the online measurements. In the last month I ordered 2 pairs of jeans - same brand, same jeans, same size - and one was so small I couldn't pull it up over my hips, and the other was too big. Can't really blame QVC for something that's happening at the manufacturer - right? It's just best if I go to a store and try on clothing before I buy it.
