What's with the Tencera shirt pricing?

I've never sent an email to QVC saying "Please QVC, we need more expensive over-priced items." I've been waiting patiently for them to bring in these $126.00 tops at a lower price point. Not happening. Is there something about this fabric that I'm missing?

I believe it is an expensive fabric, but I still think this shirt is way over priced.

@depglass I have been waiting also. The shirt looked so darn cute on Kourtney Kondabi a few months ago. Will continue to watch but then they will probably not have my size. Side Stitch brand is expensive. QVCs prices are the same as Ash & Rose site which sells the stuff. So, no price break.

that is the price at which the company wants to sell their product, and they can price it anywhere they like

I can find Tencel shirts at many different prices in the stores

I just looked up Lyocell at a couple of website ...

Lyocell is the generic name for a biodegradable fabric that's made out of treated wood pulp.It's commonly sold under the brand name Tencel®, which is made by Lenzing AG.

Lyocell is a form of rayon which consists of cellulose fibre made from dissolving pulp (bleached wood pulp) using dry jet-wet spinning.It was developed beginning in 1972 by a team at the now defunct American Enka fibers facility at Enka, North Carolina

Tencel ha been around for years. I had tencel pants back about 15 years ago, and a shirt I bought not to long ago from C Wonder /QVC is tencel.

@depglass I have two. Picked them up on clearance in a small boutique in Maine. Still expensive - 70-80$.

The fabric is exquisite. It isn't too hot or cold, flows perfectly and wears beautiful. It should for the price.

Keep an eye out for sales. They are worth it. Can't say enough good things about these tops. It's only down side is the cost.

@ALRATIBA...I had a denim dress from that material years ago...it was very nice fabric, but I know I did not spend near the price QVC is asking for a button down shirt...I tend to be a thirfty girl.

Not to start a fight here, but manufacturers can't dictate prices. I was a buyer back when brands like Levis could set prices. Sorted out in court. Of course manufacturers can set wholesale prices and retailers have to work with a certain markup or it isn't worth carrying the line. I just think someone else in the QVC lineup could knock off these looks.

I have two tencel pieces in my wardrobe and they are nice.

Neither were $125! The second piece I just picked up today when my husband wanted to go to Bass Pro because he had a gift card. Not one to argue I picked up a shirt when he told me he was treating and it was a garment dyed button-down tencel. Beautiful top, looks terrific on, and was a whopping $21.99 ( on clearance)

That’s a crazy price. You’re just paying for the brand name not the “expensive” fabric. A year ago I bought 3 shirts, very similar style, button front, curved hem etc. at Kohl’s for 21.99 each. I like Tencell and mine are 100% as well.

I just got a shirt made out of Tencel and tie dyed at a big box retailer and it was$29.99. I can't believe QVC is starting to charge what they do. This isn't the only line they're pricing out of range

Just recently the Side Stitch items caught my eye, so I started a thread asking about the high, high prices and is the brand worth it. Several responses: it's all about the fine, quality fabric. Then several people mentioned retailers that sell the items for much less than QVC. As always, we have to be careful consumers.

I don't know what size you're looking for, but there is a nice selection of Side Stitch tencera shirts on eBay. (New with tags)

ETA I just picked up the roll sleeve tunic for $29.99 plus shipping. New without tags.
