Too many "Dark" colors.

So tired of seeing dark colors. We need colors to brighten us up not make us look depressed. The lighter colors are almost never offered. So over browns, dark greens, dark gold, dark burgandy, etc. Where are the fresh colors like white (not cream), pale greens, pinks, blues, etc. There are a lot of people who wear lighter colors winter, spring, summer and fall.

I try not to wander through women's clothing departments when Fall styles start coming in. All those dark colors are totally depressing. I tend to wear the same light and medium shades throughout the year, with the exception of a few black items.

And that mustard color shows up constantly. Each vendor or QVC calls it something different.

You need to look around ... lots of place selling lighter colored winter clothes. In the past month or so I bought white and light colored tops and sweaters - yellow, white, pale (lighter than pastel) blue and pink.

Yellow has been fairly easy to find this winter. Same with lighter orange shades. I needed tops to go under some sweaters I made ... not a problem finding them.

I got winter white cords and winter white down vest at Talobts along with gorgeous cashmere sweaters in pink, fushia, mint green etc. If you look around you will find colorful clothing.

As long ago as the early years of Color Me Beautiful in the 1980's. I knew my closet was different from those of many of my friends. I went with friends to a consultation, which for me confirmed I'm right to wear dark green, dark brown, bright orange, mustard, cream and limit white, black, and pastels or at the very least keep them away from my face.

I love the crispness of black and white - on other people.

As spring comes in, if it's a pink or pastel blue year, I know I'm shopping the thrift stores if I need something. 2019 with its emphasis on coral might be good for me as far as colors go although, no, I'm not buying cold shoulder or overly exaggerated hems even in a color I like.

Just yesterday, I "shopped" my own wardrobe and put together 2 outfits I hadn't thought tp try previously - one emphasizes orange and cream, the other shades of green, dark brown, and turquoise. So - there's space for something new in a peachy coral if it comes around. I'll see.

I can’t get on the color bandwagon. Pastels wash me out and dislike bright colors except for certain shades of red. If I wear color it has to be muted.

I think whether or not one has ever been color matched, over time most people tend to gain an understanding of which colors look best on them. In my case when I wear certain pastel colors, unless it's a print I look tired and never hear compliments. On the other hand, when I wear dark rich greens, cobalts and navy, vivid reds and purples, and rich browns the outfit could be a fleece top and sweatpants and I usually hear a compliment. Neutrals, such as tan, beige, black and gray tend to be just that on me. They don't give me a special aura, but they don't deaden my complexion either. Thank goodness we have an abundance of retail choices to shop from, and although most hop on the bandwagon of the season's hot colors, there are plenty of colors to choose from.

Pastel colors are not for me, I look best in jewel tones.

QVC is not the only shopping option, I'm sure you can find what you're looking for somewhere else in the retail/website world.

@KingstonsMom I also look best in jewel tones. I also like them for decorating (not on the walls, but on the furnishings and accessories, set off against white walls)! LOL

I love all bright colors, but I will tend to wear darker shades with my winter clothes. I also wear more pastels in early spring and brighter brights in summer. What I hate is where I live (the snowbelt) EVERYONE wears only black, gray and dark brown this time of year. If I want to stand out in a crowd, all I have to do is wear a red leather jacket!

Dark colors give me a feeling of warmth although I do have lighter colors (medium shades). I would wear pink if I could find a very pale, baby pink top.

Love black clothing. What colors I wear have nothing to do with my moods and everything to do with looking stylish.

Black is slimming, goes with everything and my husband prefers and loves it on me. I wear it because I feel comfortable in it and I wear it year round.

I refuse to listen to those so called experts who push Seasonal Color Analysis and give a set of colors supposed to be your best colors. Just another sales gimmick to sell something... Love my black clothing...

I have to say i "love" the winter shades, brown, dark greens, burgundy, navy, etc. I think this past year especially they have shown many light colors especially in winter florals,prints...........I do like some pastels....but give me the warm colors anytime.......Summer time you can rarely get warm colors... only brights, jewels or pastels or prints.....so pretty much up til this past year with all the winter florals.....it has been pretty much even

for winter vs. summer fashion colors...

Yes! PINK! It is so light that it's more like a blush color. The only way you can tell it's pink is if it's hanging next to something white or ivory!

(I needed it to go under a sweater and the pale pink was the best color that wouldn't detract from the stitch pattern of the sweater.)

I prefer jewel tones (and black or white). I don't even wear pastels in the summer, I think they look awful on me.

In the summer I wear saturated shades of fuchsia, jade, marine blue, etc. In the winter I wear mostly black and/or deep shades of color.
