Dear QVC. Improve the quality of your fabrics. The word pilling is found in countless reviews across all your brands. Buyer beware anything with polyester.

When manufacturers make fabric they use the long fibers to make the high quality fabrics like pima cotton - all long fibers. Then the left over short fibers are used to make cheaper fabric. When the ends of those short fibers get exposed by the fabric rubbing then they ball up and you see what we call pilling.

source - a class I attended at my sewing club. The speaker discussed making fabrics & why some were more or less expensive.It was a very interesting class.If your going to put the labor into making something you want to use a good quality fabric so it lasts.

IMO - QVC charges a primo price for their products but does not sell a primo product.I will pay for quality with a smile on my face but I hate paying for quality and not getting it.

Everything pills to some degree.

I just got an order from Lands End

The hang tag describes the method to use to "de-pill", if that's even a word.

I just bought one of those fabric shavers to remove fuzz and pills. Seems like it will come in handy more often than not these days.

Right now some of the designers are on the kick with polyester and rayon both cheap fabrics. I would appreciate that cotton be used. I refuse to pay for cheap fabrics.

I rarely have a problem with pilling - but when I do, my trusty battery operated fabric shaver solves the problem

I just recently shaved the tapesty covered throw pillows on my couch.

@ALRATIBA Those contraptions work very well Mine was $4 at Jo Ann fabric and I had a 40% off coupon from the Sunday paper. Money well spent.

I've actually used a plain ole disposable razor to remove pilling. I can't stand when fabric does that. Don't think I've ever had anything from QVC to pill. I have seen posts that Susan Graver pills, but I've never had it happen.

I actually prefer when garments have rayon blended in. It makes it glide over my curves.

I don't think it's the fabrics, I think it's the way people are washing and caring for the fabrics. I don't care what the tag says, I do not toss things into the washer and dryer. I just don't and I never have any pilling problems. If something is a knit or "jersey like" or "chiffon like"; I hand wash in cool water and hang it to dry a metal rack that I bought from Amazon. Sure, it all says machine wash and usually machine dry......I use my common sense.

I have had numerous tops pill terribly before I even washed them. Yes I’m one who sometimes doesn’t wash first. I’m really upset and sad about this pilling because I love logo so much

@TX-starlight I have to admit I've never had any Susan Graver items pill. She has said on air that they are coated to prevent that.

There is no way on this earth that I will ever hand wash all my clothes and hang them to dry.

I just use the delicate cycle with cold water. Hang to dry. No pilling yet on any brand. I do find that all acrylic does tend to pill. Stopped buying sweaters with that frabric.

@luvdoodles When I see the word acrylic, even if it's only 10%, I will not buy. I received a SG open front cardigan, beautiful teal color, pilled totally.

@151949 Read my post again. I've never had her items pill either. I own MANY SG clothing & never had pilling. In fact, I don't think I've seen any polyester pill. (Not sure if you mis-read, or agreeing with me,lol).

Friction and heat cause pilling. Even my cashmere sweaters pill under the arms and across the bust. If I do not put something on over them the seatbelt causes a lot of friction and rubbing, creating pilling. I had to wear an old lab coat over my clothing when I drove until some of the girls on here told me about a device you can buy at Walmart in the auto department that prevents it. It is called a seatbelt cover, less than $15 and saves you a mint on clothing.

It’s not true that everything pills. Some of the oldest T shirts I have that we’re not pricey, never pilled and washed countless times....
