Cropped Jackets

Just tuned in to check clothing KG, what's with these cropped jackets that cuts off half your body, and shows the worst features of our bodies (hips and top of thighs). It's as bad as yesterday's TSV. Didn't think it could get any worse. Not a good look on JT.

The last time around for cropped jackets ....

This was about 2006 or so. We were in court on an estate matter - sitting in the back. Attorneys up front at their tables.

One of the female attorneys (not ours) was wearing a pantsuit with one of those fitted cropped jackets, and the sight from the back of the courtroom was just awful.

They look fine if you are a size zero, have no hips, midriff, belly, or bust. Love Jane, but don't like the was they have styled her in that jacket.

I can't wear cropped waisted anything. I'm long waisted with short legs.

I guess I must have short arms too because for some reason everything with long sleeves I buy on QVC the sleeves come to my finger tips!

Don't understand it because when I buy something from 'brick and mortar' the sleeves seem to fit much better! I don't buy very many things from these stores because with my back it's hard for me to walk around.

I get so frustrated that these sleeves are so freaking long. When I see one of these models and the sleeves fit them, I pass on the item. If it's short on them, I'll buy it!

I like them. I think they're cute and different than the regular length jackets. I have cropped jean jackets in denim blue, white, black, and ivory. And at least this time around, it's fine to have a shirt or top that shows beneath the jacket.

It may not be a good look for some, but isn't that always the case with fashion?

I am short waisted and they look very nice on me..I can see if you have a long torso ,it wouldn't be a good look

I love cropped jackets and have quite a few. I am short, petite and short waisted. They make the bottom of my body look longer. Longer jackets make my legs look shorter than they are. My mother used to say I looked like I was standing in a hole.

i wear them with pants that come up to my natural waist. They look awful with pants that ride low.

They are not for everyone.

This look is not doing JT any favors. She often looks so lovely in dresses with a cinched waist and full skirt.

Just shows how clothing styles can either flatter or exaggerate our figure flaws.

Surprised she doesn’t have more awareness re what flatters her.

I would think this kind of styling would lose sales-shows how little I know.

As Jane explained, she is a “pear”—quite small on top (a 2-4) and larger on the bottom (a “true 8”). She also said that she would usually wear an XS in the jacket, but the stylist wanted it to have a closer fit. The jacket fits Katia differently as well. Makes perfect sense, and I don’t believe one can guess sizes by seeing someone on TV anyway.

Actually, the stylist, Angelo, came out late in the show. She said he sent her info on the outfits she would be wearing for (at least some of) her shows during the week.

Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't understand what was awful about the attorney in the crop jacket? A cropped jacket in of itself is not an awful sight so what was horrible?

I will confess that I love cropped jackets.

Went back and watched the video of Jane. I don't think it was an issue with the jacket. I think she was wearing the wrong top underneath it. To my eyes anyway.

Waaaay back in the day when I was in my teens, 20's and even my early 30's I was just cute as a button! My jeans were below my navel (and skin tight) and my tops were above my navel. In the winter my jackets were cropped and maybe an inch below those tiny tops above my belly button!

Now, pushing 65, my jeans fit (and no, I don't have to lay on the bed, hold in my non-existent belly and zip those tight jeans with a pair of pliers!), my tops are now longer than the zipper on my jeans, and my jackets are at least as long as my blouses/tops (and longer).

I certainly don't speak for all of us, but I feel we baby boomers are forgotten in today's fashion world (and there are a whole lot of us out there)! I think I'm still in pretty good shape, but appreciate and understand my body today versus 30-40 years ago is clearly not the same. I think designers pretty much gloss over us. I have a few bucks to spend, want to look great, but don't want to look less than the age (and body) I now am. Aging should not be something to be ashamed of (I actually love old me versus young me). I think designers are missing a huge market share. Help! Any of you feeling it too?
