Im not surpised by this in the least. Im also sure that bras are designed and sold by males too, (except Breezies) of course, which are worthless too.

I am not really shocked or surprised by this stat. It has always been a male dominated field. I don’t think being a female designer necessarily means the fashions and styles will be better. There are a few female designers who have collections I would never wear. It really depends on how your personal style preferences match up with a particular brand aesthetic regardless of the gender of the designer.

@wilma I don't think the head designer of any fashion company is always the CEO. I'm certainly no expert on the topic. Men can certainly design good clothing for women, but why the lack of female CEOs? Unfortunately it simply reflects the lack of female CEOs in general.

Good point. I was thinking more head designers than CEOs. Even with all the progress made by women in business it is still a shame that it is difficult for women to break through that “glass ceiling”.

@tsavorite Yep, sure did. He explained the construction of the ultimaire, padded straps, etc. Not sure they had models in bras/panties then. Too embarrassing!

I avoid the male designers on QVC and elsewhere ... except Bob Mackie. His stuff is in an entire different category.

I can't even stand to listen to them talk about their clothing ... including that guy from D&C, though I do occasionally buy D&C pants.

If men are designing fashions we don't like-- or clothing and shoes that are uncomfortable and intended for their own entertainment-- we simply shouldn't buy them!
