Tired of rhinestones and other bling

Am I the only one who is tired of rhinestones and other bling? The cold shoulder tops also seem very much like a very tired fad.

I long for the day when we can see pretty blouses and good quality knit tops/tunics without rhinestones or other encrustations.

Change your designer. I never get bling on my clothing and, I buy from here, and H ,and T.

Then don't buy them.

There are more items sold on QVC without embellishments than with them. If you're not finding them, you're not looking.

I don't know why posters get so defensive whe someone voices a style opinion. She doesn't like bling and cold shoulder tops, that is her right.

It is, but, I don't see anyone getting defensive about it. There are still other options, every place I shop, on line..she just needs to look for them..I don't own any bling ,nor cold shoulder tops, and I have tons of clothing. I don't begrude others what they like to wear, I just look for alternatives @QVCkitty1

@cherry, the posts seemed defensive to me, not just in this case , but in other fashion threads. I understand what you are saying, but I still think people should be able to state their opinion, she didn't say no one should wear bling, just that she was tired of it.

I certainly didn't mean it like that. I was just trying to point out there are other choices if she feels no one has the type of things she likes. Perhaps she isn't familiar with searching online for items

It is her right. It's also our right to disagree - that's how it works.

I have no issues with her opinion, but I DO have issues with the fact that she posted it as if embellished items are ALL there are on offer and that's just not the case. Again, there are more items without embellishment or than with if one simply looks. I'm not objecting to her style choices, I'm objecting to the manufactured drama.

I have no problem at all with what the OP posted. I think her point is that is seems many retailers jump on the bandwagon to sell the same thing, and we see it over and over no matter where we shop. One would think the "trend" would eventually pass. I don't care for the bling on tops. Don't like the cold shoulder. Don't like the high low hem. So what? I have no problem avoiding those styles, but what's wrong with giving my opinion here on a fashion forum? I'm not telling you to not purchase it.

I'm not tired of bling.

I guess you watch more QVC than I do! I don't see much of it anymore. Just an occasional SG top.

I bought one cold shoulder top a couple of years ago when Simonton was about the only one selling them. I liked the top, but not the open shoulder, so I cut off the sleeves and now have a really nice sleeveless top.

Around here (NYC) cold shoulder tops and dresses are really popular. I see so many women wearing them. Just not me.

I disagree, I don't think QVC sells a lot of clothing items with bling and rhinestones, apart from Quacker Factory. Maybe I don't watch enough to notice. I like a little bling every now and then.

I remember being tired of the bling decades ago.

Those who love it can keep wearing it. I'll be off to the side in my plain everything.

I don’t mind a little bling around the neckline or in a small motif. On the other hand I don’t like the cold shoulder trend at all. I have seen more cold shoulder than bling tops this season. I have seen more tops with sleeve details than anything else lately. Most of those aren’t my style either. I can always shop my closet if I can’t find something I like. Goodness knows I have plenty of tops already.
