Back in the day I wore those, but I am concerned that now I would trip over the material.

As a short person ( 5'2"), I would never wear them. Nor will I wear maxi dresses. These items, IMP, only look good on those who are at least 5'8".

I wear wide legged pants to my pedicure appointment as it is easy to roll them up for the foot bath. They are an appropriate length...at 73 I am not looking for a fall.

Also, I am 5’6” and wear maxi dresses all summer and in the winter in FL. Tripping is not an issue...they are a perfect length. Wish I had a dime for every compliment I have gotten and continue to get on these dresses...from Dillard’s sales folk to regular, everyday folk.

Right length makes a difference !

I never trip over my wide-leg pants...because they are the proper length. I'd get them hemmed if they were too long!

If they are too long, you will trip over them. Going up and down stairs would be deadly with too-long pants. And ... skinny heels do have a tendency to catch on the hem on stairs.

What works for me is have them hemmed so they just skim the top of my foot.

I recently bought some pants with wider legs than I would normally wear. They were called pants, but I bought them to wear as pjs, as I would not wear this thin of pants out in public. Anyway, they are so comfy, that if I could find some in a more substantial fabric, I might be tempted. These are the right length for me, so tripping would not be a problem.

Me too! As a teen I tripped on my bell bottoms but I had better balance back then.

They are not too long. My inseam is 27",but all that fabric gets in the way. Maybe I am walking too fast.

In our very hot summer days, I wear these to the office. From Old Navy last year. Very light fabric, elastic waist with drawstring to tighten. Haven’t tripped or rolled my chair over them. They hit at about the top of my foot and I wear flats with them.

I am not a fan of wearing wide leg pants or long maxi's. I got my foot caught in them when I was a teenager and at my age now, I can't afford to fall on my knees.

Even if they are the right length, there is too much material for clumsy old me.

I am also short and they are not flattering on me either.

i have a lot of excuses, huh?
