Tying A Trench Coat

GMA had a segment on trench coats this morning, they displayed a trench tied this way. As seen on Meghan Markle. Obviously you could tie a winter coat that way too. I love it.

I briefly watched a tutorial, not for this tie but another. It would take me some more time. I'm wearing my LDO trench later. Makes me feel stupid, oh well. I can't tie scarves either. It looks like you just knot it then pull one side through the knot? Just tried that on my coat...didn't work.

That's exactly the way Louis Dell'Olio for Linea has always shown how to tie a trench! He would demonstrate how to do it when explaining/presenting his magnificent trench coats. Love it!

I like that look although not on a busty figure like the one I own - and there's no other way I like a tied trench on my figure either.

Same thing with blouses, dresses, etc. I avoid belts, wraps, ties, etc. even though I appreciate them on other women.

The way I read your OP, you stated you were wondering if someone could tell you how to tie the knot shown in your picture (if they do, could they tell you how).

You might wish to try googling How to tie your trench coat, never belt it and that would show you one way. There are other short videos showing different knots as well, once you get there.... Hope this helps!

@SoX Thank you. I was going to look up the video this morning but I had to go out. I will watch it again-the video sold me on that coat when I read posts here that it was on clearance.

I wore it today in the British tan. Love it so much. I bought one on ebay in black that's missing the belt. Can use the reverse of the tan belt, or buy a nice belt for it.

I think Louis blocks our view somewhat while he's tying the belt and it's kinda difficult to see all the steps.

I won't tell you how many colors of this coat I own, though ...

I think that's the "right" way to tie a trench coat or any coat with a belt. I know I've seen articles that tell us how to do it. I don't..... I probably would if I was rich and famous and engaged to a prince and likely to be photographed a gazillion times.

That's how I tie my trench. That or just loosely tie it in back.
