DREAD WARM WEATHER CLOTHES

I know it happens every year & living in the hot, humid south, think I’d be used to it after 67 yrs., but I’m just not a fan of summer clothes.

I’m not a shorts, skirt or dress gal. Things get stifled in that “area”. Short sleeves? Not anymore....a piece of skin waves back when I lift my arms...after all that work w/ weights at the gym...frustrating!

I usually still wear long sleeves...less spf to think about and lightweight slacks. Gone are my outfit making jackets and scarves. My beloved boots give way to sandals and toe maintenance becomes necessary again.

Anyone else a cooler weather lady?

I'm 100% with you Shanus! I can't stand hot and humid weather. I would rather have cool/colder weather any day!

Well, I welcome the warm weather but I am not a shorts, sleeveless person either...(62 years old, if that matters). I do like dresses, ankle pants and crops. I always have some sort of cover up in the car....restaurants and very cold in the summer.

What I like least about summer is seeing all that skin on other people...I will leave it at that!!

@Mom2Dogs Yes, definitely some women should just keep their bare skin to themselves.

@Shanus I'm with you! I love chilly temps and cold weather clothing. I've never been a fan for hot and humid.... unless I'm on a tropical vaca and by the pool or ocean!

I much prefer cold weather fabrics. Not into summer clothing at all.

I am, but we really only get 3 seasons, most of the time. By the time Spring is sprung, we are at almost summer temps

Spring is sort of vanishing here.

It can get hot here, but, I don't do shorts, other people might like them, and its ok. I just don't care much for them

I have never like the look of sleeveless gaments, and I never feel sleeves make me hot. They protect me from sunburn

Can't agree. Warm weather dressing is my favorite. Love the capris, shorts, and sandals. I live in a hot climate, so to me anything below 70 degrees is frigid!

For years & years I have exercised with emphasis on my upper arms and they were toned and nice - but now , at 69, they are starting to be flabby in spite of exercising them. I used to do push ups - I could probably beat out any marine in a contest doing push ups, but this summer I injured my back and can no longer do them, so I guess that is what's changed.

I love the heat....I do wear shorts, skorts, capris, etc. Now, when it comes to tops, I do not show my arms anymore, too much sun. I always have some type of sleeve. I was just at a party and lot of the ladies do not cover arms and they look really bad. Because we have so much air conditioning it is easy to bring a lite cover up, if need be.

Bring on the warm weather! And the warmer the better for this cold-blooded 70 year old. I've never been warm in my life and have always looked forward to warm (hot) weather. Like the OP, I do prefer the lovely, textured fabrics of winter appearal. However, my health and comfort level is much, much better during the summer months. Once the temperature drops under 70, I'm freezing again. Thus, I'm always anxious for the onset of late spring and summer . . . sunshine (although I'm unable to tolerate the sun due to health issues) and blue skies. Great for the mood, too! On another plus side: I'm a swimmer. Swimming laps twice a week at the Club inside during the winter is steamy. UGH. Always thrilled when I'm able to open the pool and swim at leasure!

As far as clothing for warm temps: linens, pima cottons (elbow length, 3/4 sleeve length work well), silks; denims; silk/cotton blend blouses with a skirt are a favorite on hot days. Keep looking on-line! QVC does not have it. You will find the perfect apparel for your lifestyle. Best wishes.

I wouldn't say I dread it, but I'll miss all my favorite colder weather outfits. My boots, gloves, and heavier leathers will be stored for the next cold season..

Have you tried cold shoulder tops?.. it would hide the large arms because you only see only the shoulder. I detest the summer but, I still like my summer clothing and how I look in them. I also get tired of the clothing for the winter by this time of the year.

I have a lot of sleeveless but I only wear them at home. I have several sweaters and jackets to wear when going out. As I age I find the extreme weather hot or cold really bothers me. Until the past couple of years I was a fan of the heat year round.

Love your attitude, @I am still oxox. Why should any of us "worry" over what someone else might not "like" what I'm wearing. I'm all over that !

@dex, Exactly. Age isn't just a number: things happen as you get older. I remember my mom telling me to look how bad her arms had become. And she was wearing long sleeves in the hot summer. I told her her arms were no worse than any other person in their 80's and to dress for comfort and forget what others think.

I still like to look nice, but it's in my eyes only now.

I live in the hot, humid South too (SE coastal GA) and I can't dread summer clothing, it's all we can wear 9 months out of the year!
