help! bought the pants but have nothing that goes with them

Susan I love your clothes! I have been obsessed with your tops and pants and purchase some new thing on easy pay almost monthly..

I purchased the deep sea teal lustre knit pants thinking they would coordinate with my black liquid knit cardigan, teal top, and eternity scarf. However,the pants are no where close to being in the same color family. The pants aren't a true green, but more teal but none of the teal tops online look like they will work with them either. What do I do now?. I am a plus size and wear some 2x & some 1x tops. I feel a monochromatic look makes me look slimmer and taller than 5`4".

Will your new spring line include any coordinating tops in deep sea teal?

I bought the same pants ... a big change from my usual black, but I do like the lustra knit pants.

As I was hanging the pants in the closet - I noticed that I had several print tops that picked up the color ... some from QVC, some from Chico's. For solids - I'm doing creamy/ivory tones.

ETA ... I haven't checked my scarf box - I may need to make/buy a new scarf.

Another ETA ... black top with scarf that picks up the teal/black and adds some other colors.

Another ETA ... A234225 in the abstract print. A235465 in both the Sand and the Sky

You wear your pants with a black top. Your pants would look chic with a black turtleneck and black pumps or black flats. You would get the same effect that you get with monochromatic dressing.

The problem with that is that dye lots vary and you rarely get an exact color match from one garment or fabric to the next.

Even within one garment - bolts of fabric from different dye lots can make the same garments - but the colors will not be identical.

Anyone who knits or crochets can tell you how important it is to be sure you have matching dye lots of yarn for a project.

ETA: And - different fabrics take dye differently - so the same dye formula for a lustra knit (nylon/spandex) may not be the same when used on a rayon/spandex or poly/spandex.

I am sure you will come up with something you like with the pants. Sometimes I look in the closet and say nothing and then all of a sudden something jumps out at me and I think wow that goes great.

You say you buy something each month and I bet you will find something soon Maybe send Susan and email or go to her facebook page and ask her for an idea. I bet she will answer you.

I think a black top with a scarf with some teal in it would look nice. I like to use my scarves and use the ones with the colors I am wearing it it.

Consider it a shopping adventure and I love doing that.

A241003 Liz Claiborne scarf is on and would any of those work? The one has greens, teals, pinks in it.

too bad the SG line is not able to have some dye lots that are the same for both tops and bottoms...I know D&C seems to have things that really will match from one garment to the next and the colors are even named the same...but it is much easier to have uniformity in cotton than in synthetics

OP can return the pants if they are going to be too difficult to match..but she may want to contact SG via facebook and get her suggestions. I hear Susan is good about responding to questions.

I'd wear a black (or white or cream or another solid that looks good) top with the teal pants and perhaps pull the colors together with a scarf or jewelry. Or you could wear a print or patterned top that incorporates teal.

How do you know there it will be unlikely to color match?

Now days they use computers for matching colors so the match can be exact. You can take a piece of any substance into a paint store and they can match the color perfectly. The days of having to match dye lots are over. However, the same color may look somewhat different on different types of fabrics because the light is reflected differently. D & C is very good at this. If you buy a shirt in lapis blue is will be an exact match for pants in lapis blue. You could take the pants to a paint store and get a can of paint in the exact same shade of lapis blue.

So, I'd go to her Facebook page and ask her how to build a wardrobe with those pants.

Or take them to a B&M store and see if you can find something.

You might want to tell that to the yarn companies. Their dye lots don't match.

I like teal with grey, if you get a shade similiar in intensity to your pants it might work. Even a grey print might work.
