Hello All, I will be going to Florida soon to visit DS and DDIL. (There is a ceremony for my son in the Navy so I don't have a choice to go during the fall or winter.) I blister in the sun and am seeking coverups for my arms; something I can throw over a light maxi dress. I found some "Coolibar." Does anyone know about this brand or can you recommend something else? Thank you.

I live in Florida and I often where a light blouse, maybe chiffon, or there are some pretty wraps that are sheer or light. I wear Iman's cardigans a lot to work over a tank. Most important though is that you use sunscreen. Another thing I have been wearing a lot of lately because it has been so hot is lacy blouses with a tank. With those you get coverage with air flow.

I'm very sensitive to sunlight. I love Sun Precautions clothing. They have a website.

Wearing hats, especially broad brimmed ones, helps. That website has some good ones.

When we visit Florida, I try to stay indoors during the sunniest hours of the day.

Wear sunscreen, and reapply it frequently. I prefer barrier sunscreens (ones with titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide as the active ingredients) over chemical sunscreens. They work, and they don't irritate sensitive skin.

Thank you everybody. I ordered a parasol that has SPF 50 protection. I do use sunscreen daily due to a family history of melanoma, but I will make sure to get a very strong one for Florida. If anyone has one they love, please post it. I am going to look through my house to see if I have a sun hat before ordering one. (I have ordered some in the past, so it is possible I have one, but I also tend to lose them fairly quickly.) I am checking out some sun protection clothing as well.

I have two coolibar items, a swimshirt and skirt. I can't attest to their protection because I haven't used them enough in Florida. Swimskirt is new, but I LOVE it. On the expensive side, but if melanoma is the concern, well worth the cost IMO.

They have a "no tint" version and "tinted" versions. The tinted ones are flesh-colored and can be used in place of makeup. I prefer the no tint one, and wear it under my makeup (or alone).

*California Baby Super Sensitive SPF 30+ Sunscreen.

This is a full-body sunscreen. It's not scented, it doesnt' stain clothes, it's non-greasy, and it's a physical block (non-chemical) sunscreen. Safe enough for babies.

My dermatologist said that anything SPF 30 or over is fine. There is little difference once you reach SPF 30. The important thing is to reapply sunscreen if you are going to be outside for hours, or if you are in the water and it could be washed off.

Another thing my derm said is to avoid aerosol sunscreens. They tend to give poor coverage and don't work as well. It's better to pick a lotion or cream sunscreen and rub it into the skin, 15 minutes before sun exposure is ideal. .
