Hangers - recommendation please

Does anyone have recommendations for hangers to best maximize space in a closet? It'd be mostly for shirts/blouses and possibly pants.

I was reading about Joy Mangano's huggable hangers and am considering those along with the hooks to optimize vertical space. Is there a particular set you'd recommend to start with? (It seems they are popular; but, I am not familiar with them.)

They are wonderful. I have the suit hangers andthe regular ones. Don't buy any imitation go with her line.

I have closets full of the Huggable hangers.I like them.They are sleek & useful.But be aware they do break.I know she says that they are indestructible but that's just not true.

I have been buying them for at least 10 years.The older ones as well as the newer ones have broken. Not a lot but it can happen.I lose about 5 or 6 a year.That being said I would recommend them.

My friend had a lot of breakage with her hangers.She switched to another cheaper similar type & is very happy.She has had no breakage at all in over 3 years.

I started with a small order of Joy's from HSN. Liked the color. but the first year one broke and although I run my A/C year round in Florida, some of the hooks became rough. Not rusty looking, but feeling rusty. And every year one or two more break. In my mind that makes her hangers expensive.

So, I bought Costco's version - much less expensive, but all black, and I've had no issues.

Then I saw some pretty pink on very deep sale at Bed, Bath. They've also been fine.

I still like the colors Joy offers, but my closets function great right now - I'd buy Huggable's copies - anywhere I could find them cheap.

Target carries the Huggable hangers as well as other brands. I catch them on sale or when I have a coupon. I don't buy the Huggables, I buy the others. I love those velvet/flocked hangers. I've never had one break---yet!

I've tried the hangers that allow you to hang items vertically, 1 on top of another and so forth and didn't care for it.

@Julie_23 Hi! If you search "hangers" on Bed Bath & Beyond you will see several options. I like these:

Attachable Hangers (set of 10 clip onto each other to use vertical space)

Chrome Skirt Hangers with clips

4-Tier Skirt Hanger in Chrome

Honey-Can-Do Skirt/Slack Hangers in Crystal Clear

They do have the flocked hangers (I'm not a fan though) as well as the more sturdy white plastic hangers.

I redid all my closets a couple years ago with the velvet (Joy M type) hangers, and am pleased with the results. It looks nice, and nothing falls on the floor. I do find them a little difficult when hanging turtleneck tops, tho........

We love our Huggable Hangers. I purchased the linen color from HSN over 12 years ago, when we moved to our house. I've never had one break.

I've added more through the years and have given them for gifts. Great hangers.

Joy's hangers are THE best.They are worth the $$, esp. if it's on a special from

the H channel.Target also sells her stuff.

Yes to the Huggable Hangers! It's all I use now. They really do make more room in your closet, and things don't slip off. In all the years I've used them I think I've had one break on the body of the hanger, and twice the hook broke off the top. But that's in like a ten year period. I'm very happy. Catch them on HSN when they are on sale. Usually free shipping, too. Give them as gifts to my daughter and daughter-in-law, as well.

Joy Mangano's Huggable Hangers do break, although she swears that they don't. I will not buy anything from her because I no longer trust her. I buy the duplicates from other stores.

I like the huggable hangers or HH type hangers. I first bought a set of hangers only from Joy and had no issue with them. I have had broken hangers in the newer sets. My husband is also one that likes to grab a shirt and yank it off the hanger and he's snapped a few. If you are a yanker like that, these hangers aren't for you. LOL

I don't like any of the other hanger products Joy sells. I don't like the clips or the cascading hooks, over the door hangers (those all broke), shoe organizers, etc.

I have found these HH type hangers at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc. and I have bought those and they are just as good as Joy's hangers, IMO.

My favorite hangers of all time are the Huggable Hangers from Joy Mangano - I've had them for years now with no breakage. They keep clothes from sliding off and are thin enough that they make your clothes look so neat and organized in your closet. I use the regular ones for tanks and tops, and the suit hangers for dresses and pants folded over in half.

I use the non-slip hangers - like Huggables, but I get the unknown brands that they sell at Ace Hardware and/or Walgreens.

I've had huggables for a few years now, different sets, and none have broken.

I did have an over the door hook break, kind of disintegrated, but not any hangers...

Her steamer works nicely too.

I have the huggable hangers as well as the ones sold at TJMaxx and qvc. All of them have held up just fine. I got a large quantity of hangers here on qvc and am happy with them (the price was right).

I like the version at Costco. Much cheaper, and have never had one broken. The ones from Joy at HSN do break however.

Huggable hangers are good because they are thicker and don't transfer color when hanging wet clothes. Cascading hooks are not that useful because they are bulky and can make bulges if clothes are squeezed closely together. I wouldn't buy any of her other things because all those extras she threw in with the sets were junk.

I have switched most things over to the HH type hangers over the last few years. I have some of the JM ones, some from qvc, some from TJMaxx. All are good! I have had some break, but personal experience I've found that the ones with the pant bar across the bottom rarely break, only the shirt hangars break for me. Last week in a desperate moment at out lake house I needed hangers due to a house full of guests that were going to be arriving. I ran to Walmart and found the Better Homes and Gardens brand of these hangers in a box of 30 for $10.....got them home and they're very nice!
