Summer Wedding

I am the Grandmother at a summer wedding and don't know what to wear. I'm thinking of palazzo pants (maybe Bob Mackie's wide leg pants) and a nice shirt or jacket. Pants because I can't wear pretty shoes anymore and will wear flats. Does this sound too casual? Thanks for your input

I think palazzo pants are very dressy and that you would look just lovely and be comfortable too!

If you're tall cropped palazzo pants can work. If you're short (I know from experience) you need them to be long and not too wide.

Depending on the fabric and the top you get it can look very pretty and dressy. Will you be getting a jacket? I wore a beauful silk jacket over a pretty tank to a wedding last summer with black dressy pants and it worked well.

I personally can't stand wearing dresses anymore. I prefer to be comfortable and wear what looks good on me.

Is this going to be a very dressy & formal wedding? Then you might need very dressy fabric but long flowy pants can almost look like a gown.

in a dressy fabric it could be nice

you have lots of time to look as well. I would head to Lord and Taylor for dressy looks, but I dont know where you live.

I think palazzo pants would be very nice. But probably not any sold on Q. I found better-looking ones elsewhere.

You might try Draper's and Damon (chiffon palazzos and coordinated sets) and vivid linen ... linen wide leg with chiffon overlay. HTH

Sounds like fun.

Alex Evenings is the brand of palazzos (chiffon) that seem to be popular and these are carried by department stores too.

I think there is too much worry about what to wear to a wedding. Of all the weddings I have gone to I cannot remember what the Grandmothers wore,let alone anyone else.

Take that back, went to a wedding years ago (before tatoos were so common place) and someone had a spider web tatoo on their back.

Don't wear those darkening glasses. They will show up like you are wearing sunglasses.

palazzo pants will absolutely work well for a summer wedding.......the ones that bob mackie makes can be easily dressy with a blingy top or a dressy chiffon top or a jacket with beading.

Over on the other shopping channel, Marla Wynne had some dressy palazzo pants and a top that might be good for a summer wedding. They were featured during the "Beauty and the Beast" presentation and they mentioned how good they would be for a summer wedding.

Also, my favorite go to store is Chico's they should have some nice lightweight dressy jackets and sometimes they do have palazzo pants. Their traveler's pants and tanks can be dressed up with a nice jacket and jewelry too.

I think the Bob Mackie Wide Leg pants is definitely not casual, and will be perfect for summer wedding. Bob Mackie has several Floral Sequin jackets that will be really nice for the wedding, such as A259457 or A275316. Or this sheer mesh glittertop A259458 will look nice, too. They are all on Clearance or Last Click price now.

You could easily wear these pleated palazzo pants with the matching tank and an open jacket They come in a lot of colors. 533-934

I would be more likely to wear a maxi dress than any pants, but that's just me.

As for having to wear flat shoes - there are a lot of very attractive flat shoes out there. I was born with a club foot so I have never been able to wear heels my whole life, yet I've had some very pretty , dressy shoes & strappy sandals over the years.

I love some of the tops shown I will be a guest at wedding on Memorial Day weekend and old friends daughter is getting married, I have dress with a beaded jacket and I am just not feeling it I have a Mackie Plazzo pants I might buy one of the suggested tops. I will look dressy and not have to worry about panti hose etc.
