Maxi dresses &/or skirts

How popular are these? Do many women wear them anymore?

I had a very pretty long dress for summer once. Never then, had occasion to wear it. I can imagine women wearing them poolside, since most are sleeveless. I'd have to get a shrug, if I got one. They look comfortable, I just don't own one now.

Where I live in Florida they continue to be very popular. Of course, Florida is very much the perfect climate for them. I wonder if they'll be popular up north this summer.

Found a boutique in a very large fleamarket in Ft. Myers, FL a few years ago. They carried " Travelers- like " long and short dresses for $19 - 23. Bought many maxi tank and short-sleeved dresses. Whether I wear them in FL or back North, I get many compliments. Even the sales staff at Dillard's want to know where I get them !

They are machine wash; I put them in the dryer for 5 minutes and quickly air dry on hangers.

They are very forgiving if you pick flattering prints and colors.

I like them on other people but not on me. I feel like I am walking around in public with my nightgown on. They are comfortable though.

I have not worn a long dress since senior prom! I got married in a knee length dress. A maxi dress is one of the most unflattering thing I can wear.

A few summers ago, they were very popular. Do not recall seeing one recently.

If you like them you should wear them. Personally where I am, I don't see a lot of people wearing them. I see them scattered here and there but they aren't as popular here as they are elsewhere. It's funny because a lot of people, especially guys, haven't caught on to maxi dresses so when they see someone wearing them want to know why they're in a "gown." LOL

I own a couple and I just bought 1 more for vacation. I don't have the lifestyle that calls for maxi dresses much. I boat but for boating, they are too much. They get in the way and are a tripping hazard getting on and off boats and onto a dock. I never see anyone wearing them while boating unless they are just sitting dockside and won't be boarding a boat.

I'm also not in the more fashion forward area.

Long dresses and skirts are fine for me in fancy special times. For ordinary ones like church and dining out, I wear knee lengths. Just one woman's opinion.

I don't really like the look of them, and I find them very annoying to wear flapping around like they do when I walk. Haven't worn one since the hippy dippy 60's! LOL!!!

I love maxi dresses, especially the hi low. I purchase a couple of new ones every spring. Usually from Evine, I do have one from Iman that I wish I had purchased more before they sold out. During warm wearher thats pretty much all I wear.

I love wearing maxi dresses and skirts and I see lots of women and younger women wearing them. Several young women at my church wear them; they order from Jane.com.

They are popular where I live. Not that it matters to me. I'd wear them even if no one else did. I've always been a maxi girl. As soon as it gets warm, my uniform will be maxi dress/sandals/denim jacket.

Plenty of options at Bergdorf's, Bloomingdales and Saks so I guess they are still in. I have several and absolutely love them. Not sure I will buy any more but will definitely be wearing those already in my closet this summer.

Love 'em with flipflops in the summer. Daytime? Nighttime? Anytime! They are a cool look on a hot day!

I have a couple of maxi skirts with a wiiiiide waist band; I pull them way up, and Voila - Automatic banded top swimsuit coverup!

*note to you grammar police out there....I said "Voila," not "Wa-La."

I love dresses however my legs are not my best feature so I wear maxi dresses and LOVE them. I wear them to the farmer's market, church, travel, out to dinner...everywhere. They make me feel feminine, hide my figure flaws, and are more comfortable than trousers. I even wear them at home. My favorites are Linea, Attitudes by Rene, Bob Mackie, and Isaac. I tried several Denim & Co but cannot find one that does not look like potato sack. I keep hoping they will make some different styles. Chico's also has summer dresses.

I think this one is a good looking dress, from Boden. It comes in 6 choices- two solids and four patterns.
