Joan Rivers clothing shows

I am watching the second 2 hour show for the day. I really enjoy her clothing, well made.

Her prices have climbed but it's worth the quality.

I find that the clothing line no longer reflects Joan's vision. There are too many big boyfriend shirts.

The only item that appeals to me is the lace jacket A263867.

I have a fall winter version of the lace jacket with faux leather and it's nice. It's the same as item A271937 but I bought mine in Canada.

@TY Jeez. I posted that months ago & everyone who loved boyfriend shirts "jumped down my throat". Her line has definitely gone downhill. I used to love her jackets & her jewelry now is way too expensive. Where's the styles that Joan was known for and wore herself?

I agree about the boyfriend shirts!! And that Athena shirt which is a style I thought I would love, is made like a rag. Cheapo fabric and shoddy workmanship. Returned!!

Also, I disagree with the David/Joan philosophy that v necks are horrible and square necks look good on everyone. If you are busty, square necks look terrible, and v necks are often the most flattering.

Joan wore black straight leg pants and she sure didn't shlep around in big shirts day in and day out. And yet all I'm seeing is big shirts all the time. What's worse is when they pair them with wide leg pull on pants. Joan was all about proportion and would never have worn clothes that overwhelmed her figure.

I prefer Joan's more classic jewelry line from the past.

I wish that they would bring back the Faberge inspired jewelry.

I have some of her nice trench coats too. Those seem to have disappeared from the line.

I don't think Joan's line has "found its way, yet." They need a creative director who can follow Joan's fashion and style and give new items like Joan always did.

And example would be Quacker. After Jeanne passed, they keep what Jeanne made popular and advanced to more and more interesting new collections.

Maybe there's not being enough finance invested in it. David knows all about Joan and was with her so long, and has success in his own right. He should be able to advance this line. They're stuck....

I liked the "heart" shirt, but again, it was a big shirt.

@febe1,I know exactly what you're referring to. Joan had a fine sense of style and understood women's problems. David, although very nice, can't fill those shoes.

FYI the bigshirt which is featured so prominantly in the brand was Joan's idea. Joan was not a woman who would take credit for an idea which was not her own, so if her story was she asked the team to create a cotton blend big shirt I'm buying it. She always used to say that the shirt worn with slim slacks and casual shoes was a uniform for her during weekends in the Hamptons. She used to talk about this casual look even before the fashion line was developed. When the brand was all jewelry, the outfit was used in the sales pitch of how to take a very simple look, and jazz it up with her jewelry. I believe it because not even the stylish Joan Rivers wore Chanel 24/7.

@TY. That's the point I'm trying to make. If this is the line that's going to be designed, please take Joan's name off it. It certainly does not represent the Grande Dame of fashion that Joan was.

I totally agree. I believe Joan probably felt that if you had this shirt made of cotton in the solid colors white or denim, and perhaps a second solid color you were set. I can't see her going for the hearts and making the shirt over and over again in different fabrics. from that perspective the design team is phoning it in doing the same silhouette over and over. That said, I did want to clarify for those who may be new to the party and did not see the shows when the shirt initially was presented, nor would those newer customers know that the line at one time was all jewelry, and Joan only discussed clothing as part of styling the jewelry.

I had a white one when the style was new and found that I wore it more than expected. It was huge on me, but was a great layering piece. I wore mine as Joan did with slim pants and (in my case) a close fitting tank or bodysuit under the shirt. I also liked it thrown over a swimsuit with a guaze skirt off the beach wear.

I don't think this line represents Joan and her style any longer. It's obvious David and the designers, and probably QVC, are going in a different direction with this line. I can't see Joan wearing many of the items. I miss her Classic jewelry line too. I still have every piece I purchased during her early years on QVC.

Enough of the boyfriend shirts, I noticed on the models that you can see through the material! I like most of Joan's items, but tired of the big shirts!

I enjoy Joan's big shirts. I have 4 of them and at least a couple are in the wash every week. I wish they would use a poly/cotton blend though so they didn't always need ironed.

AGREE!! I never order JR items anymore- WAY TOO BIG!!!!
