Drawing straws-hosts

Do you think they draw straws when they know a certain vendor will have a TSV? You know they must do or say something in the meetings...."I was host last time", "If I host this one, can I have a weekend off?", "I will work the next 4 weekends if I can have that day off!".......I know they must barter or make deals to limit who hosts with what vendor......

Truthfully, I think the choice of host is more carefully and efficiently selected. However, this doesn't mean that there isn't a collective sigh of relief by those lucky enough to not have been chosen.

Its their job and a highly paid one to do what is assigned to them. I can't imagine they would have that much control over their schedule! I would think they are more professional than to whine and try to get out of an assignment.

I think hosts deserve hazard pay working with one or two of the regular TSV vendors! If I were a host, I would have done anything to get out of hosting tonight's TSV!

No, I highly doubt it. The hosts, like most of us, have a job to do and take the good with the bad.

I've mentioned this before, but I always feel the most sorry for the host who draws the short straw when it comes to those wig shows. If I were a host, those presentations would be the most brutal. Ha!!!!!

I'm sure we can be pretty certain that management makes the schedules and pairs hosts and vendors according to anticipated sales and good chemistry. I would also think seniority counts not so much because of what host works best with whom, but when they work. You don't see too many senior hosts (i.e. - PJD) working at midnight or weekends. Part of the job is being able to work with people who have very different personality styles. Many of us are in jobs where we have to do that and we learn to do it well.

The only shows I would want to trade out of (assuming that was an option) were any of those shows that you have to spend an hour presenting a single product. UGH!!!!!!!!

@NativeJax, I would think there is a schedule and the hosts don't have input unless they need time off. It would be a free for all if hosts were bargaining certain time slots and TSV.

Network executives choose based on projected sales. QVC is interested in selling. They pick based on profit.
