Yay or Nay: The Sweater Blazer

Here is a new arrival from J.Crew. It comes in two colors, done in merino wool (dry clean only). I chose the one with the model for you to see how it looks on, and the gray color to see the details.

I have some knit like blazers from Talbots, but I much prefer a structured/tailored look.

it looks really cute on her and i like it in black rather than grey. i have a similar one from liz claiborne, done in black with white piping.

I am a fan of the soft suited style. I feel constricted in a structured blazer because I have broad shoulders and long arms. The structured ones have never fit correctly. I would not pay $138 for the one pictured, however. It's overpriced.

I prefer the soft suiting and I like both blazers, but I don't want to spend 138.00 for it.

Way beyond my price point for a knitted, unstructured jacket. For that price I would want a winter coat.

I love the look of the navy one but I wouldn't buy anything that needs dry cleaning because that is inconvenient,unhealthy and expensive.

Not a fan. Too expensive for something that can easily be pulled out of shape. I like that it's merino wool, as I don't do non-natural fibers, but the look is too structered to be accomplished with a soft fabric like a knit.

I like the unstructured look of the jacket. It looks as thought it would be comfortable to wear. I like both the grey and the black. Probably would choose the black.

It's YaY from me. I like the black, it's casual yet has an updated flare about it. Looks comfortable and at my age, it's all about comfort. Thanks for sharing. :catvery-happy:

To me, the beauty of a blazer is that it is structured but can also be very elegant.

So If I'm going to wear one, it would not be a sweater blazer. I'd rather wear a sweater or a blazer, not something in between.

I can see the appeal though for working women who want the look but more comfort.

@Silver Fox1 Thanks! I really love it. It is yummy and soft and so versatile. Looks professional with work clothes and also easy to dress down.. I tried it on over a dress, with pants and skirts, etc. Also looks great over a frilly silk blouse and skinny jeans and boots. I am going to get a lot of use of this one.

I have a sweater that has a lapel and collar and semi fitted like a blazer. It is black alpaca. A gift from my SIL.

I love this one!!

I have one knit blazer that I've worn the heck out of. I remember when I was at the store trying it on. A woman came over to me (I was just trying it on in the aisle) and she said, "you need that jacket" and she was right! It doesn't hurt that it's a great color for me.

Anywho, I would grab up this gray one in a heartbeat!
