Stark White Pants In Winter?

I've noticed that Courtney has been wearing stark white pants for the last few weeks. They're not winter white. The other pieces of her outfit are winter items, though. Is this resort wear, or transitional wear, or what??

Pretty soon Pat and Jayne will be wearing white pants too. I remember seeing them wearing them early last year.

I really like winter white or that slightly cream color in winter.

I'm glad there are no hard and fast rules anymore as far as what time of year is ok to wear stark white although personally, I'd feel uncomfortable wearing white in winter (even though I live in Texas!) because I've spent too many years following those rules and now I can't seem to break them! Lol!

We wear black pants in the summer so why not white pants in winter. It's what you style them with that makes them appropriate.

Depends upon where you are and also depends upon what you're doing.

For me where it's over 80 today and for the foreseeable future, white is fine. Besides, to quote a friend of mine "Once you're over 70, the only person who cares what you wear besides yourself is your daughter."

As for hosts on shopping channels - their "costumes" have all kinds of purposes. -- When I see hosts dressed all in winter (long, dark pants plus layers and sweaters and scarves), I don't see a single detail. That's because there's absolutely nothing that speaks to the life I lead. At least when the hosts or models give some attention to even one item that's not so winter, I might look.

Total winter and I'd just as soon watch repeats of something on HGTV!

It's just that to me, the stark white pants worn with all dark, heavy wintry tops and shoes/boots, look out of place-- like they don't belong. In other words, they stick out like a "sore thumb." JMHO.

I watched her for a little while on the Joan Rivers show. She had on a Joan Rivers blue jean big shirt and Mark Fisher peep toe shoes with a dark redish nail polish. LOL. I couldn't tell you what color pants she had on. They must have looked fine.

Qvc has been pushing the white pants year round thing for several years now. I've read the same in fashion mags but not recently. Honestly, I've never seen a single person in real life where bright summer white pants or jeans in the middle of winter or even in early spring. Off white or winter white, yes. Qvc does go into spring-summer mode long before anyone in the real world does. I've already noticed that some of the hosts and vendors are wearing sandals. In Feburary, they will all be wearing white pants, sandals and pastels and they'll start calling the spring stuff "transitional" wear. I'm ok with that even if that isn't the way I dress. Also, a lot of women do purchase spring and summer clothing as soon as retailers start showing them, which is the middle of winter.

I don't wear dark colors, no matter the season. I like soft colors, even in winter. Light colors flatter me, and I think they can look striking and beautiful in the cold months.

The fabric needs to be appropriate to the season and temps where you live. I've owned winter white corduroy pants and white wool pants, and worn them a lot.

I've seen some white snow boots I thought were lovely. And I have a white wool dress coat that I love.

So, bring on the white!

I never wear white pants, I'm never sure what's showing, if you know what I mean. Sometimes it's not obvious until you get outside in daylight.

I wear mostly darker colors or medium shades in highly saturated colors.

Plus I am owned by a black lab. Black labs & white pants don't mix!

I do like the look of white jeans during all year. Denim looks thick enough to wear in the winter.

My issue with true white pants in fall and winter is the fabric is thin and looks out of balance (odd) with heavy winter fabrics.

True white (which is bright), looks harsh against traditional fall colors.

Wearing true white with these colors would be like putting a spotlight on your hips and back side. Not for me!!!
