I don't care what people think of me. I wear whatever I want. The only times I will ever "conform" is when there is an occasion when attire has been appointed for a special event. Other than this, I wear what is comfortable and what I like.

How about actress Jaclyn Smith as someone who always dresses nicely? She has a public facebook page. I don't buy her clothing line from K-Mart since her clothes are not sold in Canada but she always looks nice in their ads. If she's on the cover of a magazine, I'll buy it.

I don't know what the OP is complaining about -- it's a blessing that you take care of yourself and look good. That's all that should matter. :-)

Obviously, the majority of women over 60 do not take care of themselves as you do and so it is logical that you will see the fashions you described when you google "over 60".

As far as this picture of HM.... I think she looks good in the bikini for her age. However, if she wanted to look great, IMO she should wear a one piece bathing suit with a lot more support up top. My philosophy is...it's all about wearing what flatters you most, not necessarily wearing something "because you can".

@Shanus. It sounds like you would look good in the styles you wear. I am 72 and wear a XL. I wear jeans and a few are slim legs. I am past needing my hair colored and i can see that my roots are mostly white. I am seriously thinking of going natural. My stylist and the others working at the salon have been telling me for the past year not to color as my natural hair is beautiful. Right now the white blends well with the blonde. I may be plus size but I refuse to look frumpy. My scoliosis causes me to have a booty so I have always worn jackets, etc that do not fall right on top of it. I do wear longer tops that come midway across my bottom. I try to keep my body proportions in mind. Dusters, long tunics, etc make my legs appear short and my torso long. I still get compliments and strangers misjudge my age. I am a great grandmother and proud of it but I am still want to look "sexy" for my age. It sounds like you are a very young 68 and know what looks good on you. If you look in the mirror and like what you see go out and enjoy your life. "Life happens" as many older seniors have said. Don't waste time waiting to join the others in their rocking chairs. Enjoy your life and stylish self and make more beautiful memories to last you a lifetime. Elle and Marie Claire have both previously had stories of stars over 60. They also included a ull page pictures of outfits for 30, 40, 50, 60 with suggestions and encouragement to stay current and comfortable in your age bracket. It sounds like you are doing a great job.

So I'm going to give it a try. I stopped at Sally's Beauty to pick up a bottle of a toner rinse (washes out in one shampoo) to help during the awkward growout stage. I'm hoping I like it because I'm tired of coloring my hair.

@ShanusI have seen women with leggins and tunics at all age levels and they're totally appropriate. I think leggings got bad press from teens and twenties wearing short tees and leggings. The tops didn't cover enough.

There was a blog that someone posted several weeks ago of her "icon" who was a slim lady with grey hair in a variety of looks and one was distressed jeans. She totally rocked them with a dark blazer, white shirt and dark boots.

That's why I love Bazaar magazine. They do a monthly feature on clothing for different decades although I could wear most of it.

I use Ralph Lauren's classic styles and add a twist. He does dressing at all ages appropriately and the quality is great.

I am mid 50s and find inspiration from Chicos catalog and website. Most of my fitted jackets are from there. Recently purchased a royal purple boiled wool Moto jacket with silver hardware I am looking forward to wearing! I also enjoy the street style posts here.

At 68, I've worked out & maintained a size 4. No, I would NEVER wear a cropped top, shorts, bikini, tight clothing, tees w/ pics of rock bands, over the knee boots, high platform shoes, high heels or leggings. That said, if I enjoy jeans w/ a few "distressed" areas, slim leg jeans, clothes from BR, J Crew and Gap, is there a big "X" at the door for me? When I've looked through fashion magazines or seen ads in other places, the models are 16-20 yrs. old!! There are no fashionable role models my age to take hints from. On PINTEREST, I typed in "OVER 60 STYLE". Most of the women had grey hair, loose knit pants and long tunic tops. I'm not ready to go that route yet! Any suggestions?

@Shanus I'm with you!! I wear all that you said also and I am 3 years older than you!! Lets just keep doing what we do and enjoy it!!

Count me in! I'll be 74 in a few months and am the same size I was years ago. Maybe good genes but my hubby and I stay active and I think that helps...mind and body. I like to be fashionable but sure won't go over the top with cropped shirts and short shorts, etc.! Wear what you feel comfortable in and makes you happy. I just want to look nice and feel good about it. Recently I read online that you shouldn't wear jeans after you turned 45!!!!! Seriously. Who made that stupid rule???
