Form fitting sheath dresses

Hope I am describing them correctly.

I mean straight dresses (with or without sleeves) that hug the body.

Was watching the blonde rep from IT Cosmetics the other night. She is a cute woman with a nice body. She was wearing a white, knit, 3/4 sleeve, dress of this kind.

I wonder if women realize that it makes their lower abdomen stick out in sometimes an unflattering way. Some of it just may be the natural look of a woman. Maybe it's more so on television even. It looks like one has a pouch, unfairly! My eye kept being drawn to it.

I think women in general should be very careful with that style of dress. Does anyone else notice this?

@lolakimono OP said with or without sleeves. You said you thought she meant a sheath. She means a "bodycon." So, no it's NOT a sheath. However, there are some sheaths with long sleeves.

Please re-read my OP.

I did not call it a sheath- the OP did.

I said when the OP described the vendor's 3/4 sleeve dress, that to me is not a sheath. The knit could have been a scuba, but I would never use the word "sheath" to describe that style of dress. That's all.

The dictionary says a Sheath is a cover for a sword, a fitted dress, a condom. A sheath can be: Strapless, Straps, ANY length of sleeve. It is a fitted dress, not necessarily a TIGHT dress, but not an A-line. Then, whatever fabric they make it in. cotton, silk, scuba, knit.-----------------tedEbear

I do not think the OP was so concerned about the term sheath as about the fact that a very fitted dress, no matter what you call it, can emphasize the tummy area. But to be clear, when I was a lot younger "sheath" dress did refer to a form fitting dress with or without sleeves. That is what they were called then. Now you can call it "body con" "scuba", etc but I think we mean and understand what we see on the IT vendors as a close fit. Times have changed and so has our viewpoint on what is an "acceptable" fit (for the lack of a better word).
