prices of shoes

Has anyone else noticed the prices of so many shoes.They all seem to be way over 100 dollars,yes a good pair costs,but some of these vendors prices are terrible.I am sure many stay at home people cannot afford those prices.I have noticed clarks prices have gotten higher also.Usually that is my brand I would buy.

It pays to shop around, I have found some of the same shoes offered here less expensive on other sites. This is not always the case of course, but even if you just save on shipping you would be ahead.

I myself prefer faux leather, especially in the winter - suedes and leathers don't hold up under the wet snow. Yes, shoes, clothes, everything, especially on the Q, have risen dramatically! I believe HSN always has free shipping on shoes.

I think the prices of everything have gone way up. From groceries to clothes to homes. One of our neighbors just sold his house in our plan that is identical to our home for $65,000 more than we paid 6 years ago, and ours is lakefront - his wasn't so we would probably get $20,000 more for ours on the lake. Cars too have really gone up - we leased 3 years ago so we are looking now as our lease will soon be up - OMG the sticker prices are staggering.

Boy is this true. I always check other sites. Most recently there was a pair of Clarks shoes I was interested in. I found them on another site $60.00 cheaper than QVC was selling them for.

I shop around online. And we travel to outlet malls where prices are much better. My special favorite is Clark Shoes. I find them comfortable and the ones I buy I use for the dance floor. (mostly Mary-Janes)

I agree but most recently stopped in at a department store to actually try on the shoes. I've noticed that I range from a 7-1/2 to a 9 and it doesn't depend on the brand, it's the style of any given shoe.

I also like to comment that the stores are pushing "presales" meaning you pick out what you want, pay for it but need to come in a week or even later to pick up your purchase, you can't take it with you. The sale is 35% off at the end of month but here's how a pair of Sporto boots worked out...right now they are on sale and I can take an extra 15% off now but if I wait until the end of the month I can take 35% off but that percentage off is on the regular price not the sale price so it was a whole dollar and change difference. Don't get fooled by the larger percentage off.

DEFINITELY!! I just got a navy blue pair of Clark's Uniloop shoes from ebay....brand new, still had the stuffing in the toe. I could tell they had never been tried on. They came from the UK. I paid $85.17 and got free shipping. On QVC's page they are $130 plus shipping. That's a huge savings. I love them. I knew they would fit because I already own 4 pairs of this style in various colors.

@MistreatedbycsJust read an interesting article about sales from Jane Bryant Quint who writes for AARP and Money and appears sometimes on the Today Show. She wrote of scanning her closet and realizing that the vast majority of the things she wasn't getting the best use from she had bought because they were on sale. She went on to say that once she stopped shopping sales, she actually started saving real money on her clothes.

I certainly agee with her on the sales issue as far as getting my money's worth. Way too many items I've bought because they were on sale have turned out to be expensive on a cost per wearing. I was so programmed to look for sale prices that I wasn't really making the right decisions. Not about the clothes and certainly not about the illusive savings.

milleshops...I was just thinking about that too but didn't realize someone actually wrote an article about it.

I actually need nothing, my clothing wardrobe is actually on a verge of being compulsive. I always look for something better and believe there is something out there that is better.

I admit no more clothing until next spring and I'm going to hold myself to it...that's going to be huge willpower. So all that good stuff that has yet to hit the shelves, enjoy, I'm done shopping for clothing.

I think I'm going to cancel all the shoe presale purchases too...now, the more time I think about it, I have enough too.

@millieshopsFantastic statement! I realized this years ago. I would put away the same items for several years after thinking, "I'll wear that next year.". Finally, I consigned all of that stuff and I don't buy anything because it's a "good buy" because really, it isn't!

When I went car shopping about 2 years ago (I hadn't been in LONG time) I was horrified by the prices. HORRIFIED. haha

As far as home prices, they are really going up in my neighborhood. I'm pretty happy about that!

Before I got cable I had hsn and spent a lot of money on shoes for they were inexpensive, about $25. I must of had about 100, I was afraid to count. They fit great but had to give them away because I couldn't wear a 6 any more. Now older I have many Sketchers for walks. 6-1/2

Everything is going up like groceries. Thank goodness I am not working for clothes are awful too in price.

I have cleaned up on shoes by buying from Zulily. I just received an extremely comfortable pair of brown leather loafers made by a company named Bogs, that are waterproof. This is not a feature I often need here in the desert.

I've bought many pairs of "comfort" shoes, all leather, mostly brand names, all colors and styles. I've had excellent luck with them fitting just fine. I guess I have an easy foot to fit even though I wear an 11B. I've saved a lot of money as they're as much as 60% off. They're all brand-new, fresh from the factory, having never even been tried on. I often get them discounted while the exact shoe is being shown for more $$$ on QVC.

@151949 Off topic of shoes, but why are you leasing a car? We have a '08 Ford Edge with 78000 miles on it & was just offered $10,000 for it...we have always paid cash or, at the most, a 2 year car loan..never liked the idea of renting a car...

@hoosieroriginal - I feel similarly but in different seasons! I like leather & suede for winter but I prefer waterproof shoes for rainy season in the summer. I'm wearing vegan leather Jambus right now.

Sporto (HSN) has nice waterproof suede & leather shoes.

I am usually able to find shoes I like on sale or clearance. I notice high prices but I rarely pay full price.

It sounds like she didn't/doesn't know how to actually shop sales the right way. Sounds like she may be an impulse shopper who buys things she really doesn't need/want just because they are on sale.

Look around on the Internet. I got some clogs for less on another site, and they offered free shipping and free returns. They were still oricey dansko leather, but I saved money. I have pretty much stopped buying shoes from QVC because sizing on so many brands is inconsistent, which means the likelihood of having to return. If you know your brand and size, look at new shoes on eBay. I bought a pair of tall leather boots last month for a lot less than at other sites, but some eBay sellers do not allow returns, so read lustings carefully.
