What's in around here is leggings, just about everyone is wearing them. Its DH's new hobby, passing judgment on some of these gals. Most of the time I agree with him, they obviously haven't checked the rear or side views. Pantylines digging in two inches, lumps on tops of lumps, etc. If one is that committed to legginngs, invest in this seasons longer tops.

Do they make spanx leggings? I wore leggings when they first came out in the 80's(?). They were comfortable, especially around the house. They always look good on tall slim women, but then again, what doesn't?

OP, perhaps your husband should get a new hobby. Overweight Americans are the only subgroup that seems unprotected by political correctness. People say what they want about those who are not thin, and even feel fine posting about their rude remarks and views concerning these individuals. How sad!

@pugsmom What is sad is a woman going out in such revealing clothing without looking at all views in a mirror with a critical eye. Just because you can doesn't mean you should! Have a little pride in yourself ladies!

I don't think any body type looks good in leggings unless they have on a tunic style top that hits the middle of the thigh. No one looks good with their bottoms and who haw showing in leggings. Now if you put a long tunic top on over them then they all of a sudden look really good on everyone. Of course this is just my opinion.

What I find offensive are the words that the OP used when she said her DH was "passing judgement on some of these gals." We have worked so hard in our country to encourage everyone to respect others who may have different religious views or who may be of a different race. As a country, we are working on respecting everyone's right to love the person of their choice. So many Americans still do not respect those of various shapes and sizes. Some think that they know better than the individulal what he or she should wear. 151949, you said that just because someone can doesn't mean she should. Why shouldn't she? Because you say so?

Leggings are in, like it or not. I myself prefer to only wear them when I have on a long top, but who am I to judge the fashion choices of others? I make my choices based on how I want to look, and I'm sure others do the same.

A really good, supporting and shaping legging does wonders for our figures no matter what size. I think anyone can wear them. Just spend the extra money and get a good pair and wear them with confidence.

I purchased the Lysse leggings thanks to this board, and I think they will look good with a long sweater or something like that. These are the first leggings that I would wear. I did purchase Spanx leggings when the Q had them on, but even going up two sizes, it was not a pretty sight. The only other legging-types that I have are lounge wear, and I only wear them around the house. At some point, we all know what makes us look good.

I agree with you that the last "acceptable" form of discrimination is against those who are overweight and that is appalling. No one should be shamed in such a way. That is just mean. However, it is also true that most women should not wear leggings unless accompanied by a long tunic. Of course there are young, thin women who can wear anything and look great. But they are not the rule. I am basically the same size as I was when I was young (I'm 55 now). But in not way do i have the same body. Certainly people should wear whatever they want. It's just clothes after all. For me, though, I feel much more comfortable if I feel like I am appropriately dressed for both my age and body.

Seriously, now we can't say "gals"? Political correctness has gotten completely out of control! If I went up to a group of friends or acquaintances and said, "what are you women up to? instead of "what are you gals up to?" they would be quite surprised.

I have to agree with what many have said here

Leggings are not pants

Tights are not leggings

Niether leggings or tights should be worn without a tunic or longer shirt or dress over it covering their behinds.

The size of the person is not the issue, lack of style and taste is the problem.
