What color leather jacket?

A new leather jacket has been on my wish list for quite some time. I have a really old black leather jacket in a blazer style that I haven't worn for years. It looks dated.

Here's my question: If you were shopping for a leather jacket, what color would you buy and why? A black one seems pretty classic, but a rich tan is also appealing.

A rich golden British Tan would be my next choice. Like you, have the standard black. Years ago, purchased one in lipstick red, and everyone raved over it, but it definitely is not for the "wall flower."

If I were buying just ONE jacket, I would have to go with black or chestnut brown...perhaps a camel. In my closet I have a dark brown and a red. Would love to branch out and get an orange or turquoise but it's just not me

I often think that black leather can look harsh (depends on the style)- I would opt for a British tan or deep brown OR I would try a fashion color! (red, orange, blue)

Yes, Orange ... I have an orange leather jacket (not this one) and Goodwill will not get its hands on it. Have worn mine quite often ... not something for the shy or faint of heart, though. But whatever floats your boat ...

I have many leather jackets in just about every color of the rainbow. Some are part of skirt or pant suit sets. Recently I wore was my orange jacket. Black is my go to color. Take your pick. It's all good.

Well, if you wear a lot of denim, it might be practical to go with navy.

I also like tan, but I prefer pops of color.

I have red, papaya, purple, and pink (as well as some suede jackets) but I don't own black because as others have said, it can look harsh.

I think if you are in TX, you'd get more wear out of a tan or an olive color.

I LOVE Gili's pleated leather jacket in PORT - but size up! You need to stalk that one to get the size you want or wait for a re-order when it might be available on evil pay again.

I get a lot of wear out of my red leather jacket. If I was in the market for a new leather coat, which I'm not, I surely do like the IM one below. Love the color and the cut of the jacket.

I definitely would not chose black for a leather jacket. I have a dark grey one and a green one. Both pretty neutral colors. I have several colors in suede jackets (spruce green, olive green, indigo, burgundy) also pretty neutral colors. Love the orange leather jacket posted above.

Do yourself a favor and go with a color, any color except black.

Yesterday, hubby and I were at a large hospital and it was a rare very cold day in Florida. As we passed through various areas, all I could see was a sea of black jackets and coats. It looked so gloomy, I vowed that my next coat or jacket purchase is going to be in a cheerful color.

My neighbor has a cognac leather jacket and it is stunning as well as quite versatile.
