A recent thread on Lori Goldstein's LOGO line included a picture of a row of models wearing LG's pieces in various mix-and-match ways. It reminded me of a couple of lines of interchangeable mix-and-match pieces that were popular in the 1980's. They included a mix of easy-care knit pieces (one line may have been a more gauzy type of fabric, if I recall) -- long and shorter skirts, unstructured trousers, a column dress, drapey jackets and vests with and without sleeves, a long sash, etc. in black, white, beige, and maybe red and/or another "pop" color or two. The idea was that you could put the pieces together in endless creative ways to make cool, relaxed, easy-care outfits. I remember that Macy's had a fair-sized sales area featuring all of the different pieces with mannequins wearing the pieces in different configurations and little "idea sheets" available suggesting ways to put outfits together.

Does anyone else remember these fashion lines? Did you wear them? Was one called "Componix" or something like? I think JCPenney had a line called "Units" that was somewhat similar. I always loved the concept, although I thought many of the pieces were more flattering on tall, slender women. Slinky might be a current clothing line that is somewhat similar.

Units had their own stores, didn't they? I know there was a store like that at our "upscale" mall back in the 80s. (And, yes, that's what that Logo graphic reminded me of too!)

And, Randolph Duke, when on QVC in the 90s, had a line of knit pieces called "Easy Pieces" or something like that. It was a set of 4 or 5 items that mixed and matched. I think they only came in black tho.

I do think the pieces at Penney's were called "Units".

There was a period of time in the early 90s when many pieces of clothing were knits and that was very popular, and there was one at-home clothing company (I can't remember the name of it just now, although I bought a few pieces at a friend's home party in the 90s) that offered these mix and match knit separates in different colors. Like a cotton poly jersey knit with sashes that matched. Tops and tees, skirts pants etc.

Fashion Formulas also had those sashes that matched the clothing. And they were mostly in solids, tho there were some florals and stripes also.
