How old is the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe?

One of my favorite summer skirts is an A-line 100% cotton floral print that I bought at Gap in 1991! I just pulled it out of the dryer and it looks brand new. I remember finding it on a clearance rack in late fall/early winter and giving the sales associate a five dollar bill and getting change back. Wow, I sure got my money's worth! That skirt is older than my marriage and kids. 😂

Do you have an oldies but goodies still going strong?

I am not sure but likely the oldest piece of clothing that I wear is an outerwear coat as I have some faux furs that I bought years ago in the early 2000s or so.

The oldest items in my wardrobe are two ankle length skirts. They are probably 7 or 8 years old and that is "old" for me because I refresh my wardrobe frequently. The skirts are a crepe-like material, one black and one navy blue. My weight toggles from 16-18-20 and that skirt fits and looks good wherever I am on that scale. At 16 it's full and comes to the bottom of my ankle. At 20 it fits closer to body and is an inch or two above my anke. I wear those skirts in the winter with tall boots and in the summer with sandals. Other than those skirts, I have a couple of coats are around 10 years old but i don't wear them every single winter. I give them a rest for a year or two and when I go back to them it's like having a new coat.

Two pair of Levi's 577's! Can't part with them! Levi's doesn't make them any longer! They are at least 15 yrs. old!!

I have a beautiful scarf that I think is 20 years old....I haven't worn it in awhile....but I can't bring myself to donate it...

The years seem to fly by now so I realized I have a sweater set I purchased when I went to NYC for Thanksgiving -- 10 years ago! I live in the South so I probably only wear it a few times a season. I do a gentle purge about every six months but don't have the heart to get rid of it. It's a knit turtleneck in teal with a pullover knit hoodie with a kangaroo pocket in dark brown tweed. I love it plus it brings back great memories. It's nothing special, I think I bought it at Goody's.

I have a sheer floral jacket that I can tie up in the front or wear long which is over 30 years old - it was bought from a discount retail and it has lasted all those years. Everytime I wear it I still get compliments. It has black undertone so I can wear it with anything.

I have a Norwegian sweater from the late 1960's. It is knit in shades of gray and ivory. It is beautiful and I still wear it.

Probably a Christian Dior houndstooth wool scarf that I bought in high school in 1980. I still wear it in the winter sometimes.

I liked Tricia Hefler's hat in "Killer Women". Mine is the same color but with a snakeskin band. Have had it for years. It's a STETSON, of course!

Not sure, but if gloves count, probably my opera length gloves. I've had them a good 20 years. Wore them to a formal tea a couple months ago. I got DH to take a picture.

I have a winter white dress coat with faux fur collar that's 20 years old. I only wear it out for dressy occasions - like a winter wedding or very ritzy Christmas party (both are rare these days). Coats seem to last a long time and are pretty much ageless.

Plus, they're expensive, so I'm more apt to hold onto them, at least until something better comes along as a replacement.

I have a car coat-length olive green coat made of a silky feel fabric. It has a lightweight hood, interior adjustable waist cord. The top looks as though it is a cape...very floaty.

it must be close to 30 years old: I lived in it during the winter and it could shed rain and snow. When my mom went into memory care assisted living 10 years ago, I put her initials on it so she would have a multi-purpose jacket for any outside trips. When she passed, the coat is back in my closet.

Regardless of the extra pounds put on....jacket still looks good and is comfortable. My niece will probably get it in my will ( not LOL, really ).

There are some fleecy winter tops that defy age: my one sister wants the peach one, the dark green one my DH calls the winter classic.

There still are several Travelers knit multi-piece outfits that are true classics: navy, cobalt blue, black, and raspberry with a cream jacket. Truly forgiving weight wise. Other Chico Traveler pieces have now migrated to my niece's closet for work attire.

There are 2 pairs of Notations sueded cotton slacks with elastic waist band that are of vintage status. I live in them in the winter. Each year as I change over my closet, I check the seams for " appropriateness ".....so far so good.

Then there are the 2 pale pink French terry zip hoodie jackets. One stays in my car during the summer for quick trips into over-air conditioned stores and restaurants.

When you find clothing that makes you feel and look good, it is hard to let them go.

I still have, hanging in one of my closets, my ballet tutu outfit I wore to ballet class in 1958. My mom saved it and when she moved out of her apartment I took it. Looks good too! It's hanging in the original plastic garment bag my mom had to protect it.

A pair of Calvin Klein button fly jeans that are at least 20 years old. They still fit!

Just off the top of my head as I haven't actually checked, lol, I would say a leather trench coat I bought from Terry Lewis, HSN, maybe 15+ years ago.

I have items that belong to my mother and she is long gone. And yes, I can wear them if I want. So I would say 90 years.. shoes, jackets, blouses, hats.

Wow, @Snicks1, I still have my TL leather stuff and still wear them. Such great quality. Wonder what happened to Terry Lewis?

@SilleeMee, I don't know where she went, I might google it later to see what I find. I loved her leather coats, jackets. I have several and have donated a couple also. The leather items are the only things of hers that I ever bought.
