Cotton/Spandex blend - too hot for warm weather?

I have a Denim and Co shirt that I can't wear in warm weather. I overheat immediately. When I put on a cotton shirt I'm fine. Anyone else find this blend of cotton and spandex is just too hot or is it me? It's 8 percent spandex.

Agree completely Snoop! Not only does the fabric not breathe, it has a rubbery feeling. I like 100% cotton!

Anything made with rubber (spandex)even in a cotton blend is never your friend in the heat you fry in it, and in the winter it feels cold against the skin.

I agree, not a good combo. I feel the same way with polyester and spandex. Yuk!!

hate all cotton any time of the year.......i prefer my cotton to have some spandex in it for better wear, less chances of fading, fewer wrinkles, and better shape retention.

Cotton/span combo is hot for me to wear. Any other spandex combo with rayon or poly is much cooler for me. Cotton/poly is okay.

I agree, cotton/spandex not a good combo. in the summer. For me 100% cotton is always the best in the Summer heat.

Liquid knit is also very hot in the summer.

I never have an issue overheating in cotton spandex garments, but I do undestand others may not feel comfortable wearing this fabric in hot weather.

The only fabric I've ever detoured into a store to buy something to change into because I got too hot was one made of polyester/spandex knit (Slinky, Liquid Knit, Travelers, or by any other name). In hindsight I can only laugh, but the fabric and a hot flash produced disastrous results. I could not possibly have gone into my meeting wearing this outfit as it loked like I had been running with the Bulls in Spain. FYI: I have never AGAIN purchased anything made of the fabrication.

How about Tencel?

I returned a pair of "light linen" pants. The tag said 100% cotton, but the fabric was silky and didn't wrinkle?

Once I owned a pair of Liz Claiborne denim colored linen/cotton blend pants that were heavenly... don't even know if that type of fabric is available now.

Gary says everybody loves his Perfect Jersey, 95% cotton 5% spandex. I have two of them and will never buy another. They fit poorly and not a good feeling fabric. Yet, he says everybody loves it....

Seersucker is a wonderfully cool option, as is a lightweight cotton with no spandex in it. My problem is that in tops, I need a little bit of stretch since I'm large-busted and narrow-shouldered, so if something fits across the bust, it's too big in the shoulders. Most cotton knits are good, if they're not too thick, but they don't hold their shape without some spandex in them, unfortunately.

I don't have an issue with cotton blends or poly blends during the summer. I wear both in warmer weather whether it be tops, skirts, or dresses. Some blends feel more rubbery than others. This is why I prefer to shop in person. I can tell by the feel of the garment if I like the material or not.

It's not a problem for me but I don't spend much time outside in the blazing heat. I'm always in air conditioning.....and cold. But if I was going to be at the beach or sitting outside, I'd go with 100% cotton.

Ditto .... I think cotton/spandex blends make a garment more comfortable and much more wearable, and never feel it's hotter ... doesn't matter if it's a blend of 92/8 or 95/5 or 98/2 .... that little bit of spandex makes all the difference in comfort! These comments surprise me.
