Do You Like To Buy A Top With A Companion Piece (like Tank)?

I resent items being "stacked" together for us to by. You may not need the supporting piece. You may already have enough of the extra item.

It also adds to the cost.

I don't wear a small tank, nor one that is polyester which defeats the whole concept of why tanks are worn. I also don't see why a tank would be added to a top that can't be seen through. I wear a small blouse.

I happen to be one size in a blouse but another in a tank because they all tend to be cut smaller. I won't wear anything with horizontal pulling.

How do you feel?

I already have tanks in several colors that can be worn under any kind of top, so I will always pass on two-piece sets being sold no matter how much I might like the top. I wouldn't like it enough to pay for two pieces and add another useless tank top to my collection.

Similarly, in jewelry, I would prefer they didn't offer sets of 3 or more (bracelets, for example). I don't want to pay $90 when I can try one for $30, then buy more if I like it.

I don't quite understand. Do you mean when they sell an eyelet blouse that you can see through with a matching tank to wear under it? I actually like that because I don't have to take the time and effort to find something to match (unless you are talking black or white). I do not care for polyester so I do not buy it. .

I agree I would prefer for them to be offered separately. I seldom use the tanks - esp. Susan graver liquid knit ones.

I don't buy or own twin sets either. Underpinnings like shapewear tanks and layering tanks are cut small most of the time too. I prefer to wear a top that doesn't need a layering piece underneath to be complete. In those layering tanks I usually wear an XL-2X depending on how they fit. I wear a 38D bra so I'm busty enough but tanks in a size L usually are too small or tight fitting. There's nothing worse than a top that is too tight in the bust, upper arms and back that it shows every lump and bump.

Generally, no. In very specific circumstances I might, such as, for a dressy occasion. Otherwise I have tanks in nearly every color.

I really don't mind if they have matching or contrasting pieces all in one area. Sometimes it's nice to purchase pieces that come from the same dye lot. I usually don't buy the matching pieces, but I don't "resent" them being all displayed together.

No. I do not wear tanks or tops that would need a companion piece. I only layer in winter with a long sleeve top and outerwear, not 2 blouses or tops that would need a companion piece.

I have a lot of tanks.

I don't mind when they include a tank sometimes because I might not have that particular color.

I do mind having to go out and buy a tank in a certain color - either I can't find it or it's too expensive.

Resent 2 pieces together? I like getting a twofer! Even though the likelihood of my wearing them together is slim to none.... I just picked up a kimono wrap with a matching tank and I have a gazillion ideas for both pieces separate from each other

Yes at times I do like companion pieces. It just depends on the pieces being offered.

For some reason, the outer item fits, but the tank is usually too small and not particularly well made.

However, I do like sets of tops and pants. I'm lucky that the top and bottom usually fit.

It depends on the top. I like having a coordinated tank with sheer tops, but it must be bra friendly. The skinny strap cami tops don't work for me for day, they get designated to my p.j./sleepwear. Most times, I would rather just get the primary piece at a lower price without the supposed 'free' item

@febe1Exactly! Why be stuck with an item you can't use plus something that increased the price?

I understand the reasoning behind having a 2-fer when the top is, say, a blouse that is see-through. Then, it makes sense. But as others have posted, there are several factors to consider. We all like different types of tanks or camisoles. Myself, I don't like the ones with tiny lingerie-style straps and I don't like ones that have that very stretchy material that clings to you. Also, the offering for the 2-fer should be cheaper than it would be if you had to buy both pieces separately.

Another thing - if we are talking about a set, for instance, a top and shorts. I, for one, don't wear shorts -- ever. They are recently showing a very cute top and shorts set on their home page. I love the top and would like to have it but I don't want the shorts and don't intend to pay more money for a 2-fer and never wear the shorts. So, that would be a waste.

They should price them separately. But, make them a little cheaper buying the 2 together.

No, I don't like to buy companion tops with tanks or camisoles. I never buy a top so sheer that I need a piece underneath for layering. I don't like the look of seeing a cami or tank under a blouse or top. I will wear a cami under a low cut dress for modesty, but that is it. I also overheat easily so if at all possible I only want to wear one layer on top.
