If she got boots, she'd probably select the open-toe model. They are the height of ridiculous fashion.

Last evening on House hunters was a girl who was a Florida native now living in Wisconsin looking for a house. They were trudging around in the deep snow and she was really complaining about the cold and her cold feet - well she had on open toe big high heels . Wouldn't you think someone would tell the poor girl about wearing boots?

I know this is t.v. and most of it is not real, but it's fun to watch, isn't it??

But, the sad thing is, I know people like this. They seem to be totally unconnected to reality!!!

It's freezing cold --- snowing --- windy -- everyone else is bundled up, and they are prancing around in short skirts -- not tights, no hosiery of any kind, and high-heels --- no gloves, short coat --- no hat --- nothing! Then, they are screeching --- oh, it's so cold --- oh, my --- I'm freezing! Well, duh!!! Meanwhile, the whole thing is such a ploy for attention. It's like --- get a grip!!! You look like a nut!

This used to be referred to as " common sense" but in the era of untrammled individualism "common" = "contemptuous". Whether she was freezing or not, she would have undoubtedly taken offense at the suggestion that she trade her frilly lacies for Long Johns.

I live in Ohio and I see women wearing open-toed shoes and bare legs all the time in the dead of winter. It looks ridiculous and their beet red, goosebump covered legs don't look very fashionable which is what they are going for buy refusing to wear appropriate legwear in the dead of winter. But they think they look good.

Our dogs would have room to run around, we'd have plenty of space for all our "toys" and we wouldn't have to deal with the neighborhood going to crud because of trash moving in. But in reality, it would bother me to have to drive 30 minutes to get to a grocery store.

Don't you know? The most important thing for this young lady is that she wears cute shoes and shows as much skin as possible! That's the only thing that matters for these young 'uns. Most of them on that show, don't seem that bright anyway, male or female!

Young people dress that way here too. And it doesn't even get that cold here in the winter. However I have seen kids out in shorts and flip flops in 40 degree weather here and young women running in nothing but skimpy shorts and bra tops in not much warmer weather than that. Maybe they don't get cold, I don't know. Or they are just exhibitionists.

I just know the older I get the more I like warmth and heat and warm clothing in the winter. (SMH) I don't understand the women that run around in sleeveless dresses and tops in winter either. I think women that want to wear skimpy clothing in very cold weather (whether they are indoors or out) have issues that go well beyond the need to just be noticed. They must feel that their worth as a woman is dependent on what others think of their legs, arms and other exposed body areas they are flaunting. I guess, they would rather show their arms and legs and feet rather than dress warmly for the winter weather. A bit sad when you think about it.

We came home late, late from a Christmas Eve family celebration to find our drive, steps and boulevard sidewalk all shoveled by wonderful neighbors.

That's because you have wonderful neighbors. Not everyone is blessed like that. Imagine living in a neighborhood with nightmare neighbors who don't take care of their homes, have multiple cars with flat tires all over their driveway and yard, garbage all around their home, don't mow the grass or weed their flower beds, fight outside all the time, etc. That's the reality to some people.

In theory, DH and I would love to move to the country with several acres of land and no close neighbors. Our dogs would have room to run around, we'd have plenty of space for all our "toys" and we wouldn't have to deal with the neighborhood going to crud because of trash moving in. But in reality, it would bother me to have to drive 30 minutes to get to a grocery store.

When we bought our home, the most important aspect to me was its location. I nearly drove our realtor crazy, because I was not willing to consider anything outside of a 6 block radius. No matter where a person chooses to live, there are positives and negatives. For example, we pay exorbitant taxes and don't get much "house" for our dollars.

Because I have lived in a very lively neighborhood, I have become a scaredy cat. My family members live in a lake community with winding roads and properties set far back from the street. While it is pretty during the day, I am afraid to drive alone there at night.

Boy that's true! I like where we live, and most of our neighbors are quiet and mind their own business and are polite, but OMG we have some close to us now that are just loud and obnoxious. They are completely ignorant of the fact that their kids are loud and annoying. I keep hoping they will move.

When DH and I finally downsize and move from here, we are going to look for a 55+ community so that we don't have to be bothered with loud and obnoxious neighbor children.

We live in a community that is all retirees - the grandkids visit constantly - apparently people don't care about taking the kids out of school to go visit grandma for weeks at a time. Some of the grandkids are here so much they actually have BFFs among the other kids. they are always on skateboards on the sidewalks.

Wouldn't you think someone would tell the poor girl about wearing boots?

Why? I'm sure if someone suggested she get some ""proper shoes"" it would get a big laugh.

LOL when my ex and I were looking for our first house, I left early from work in MA and drove up to meet him and the realtor in an icy, snowy development in New Hampshire to look at new homes.

I was wearing a thin dress and coat and high-heels. It was December and the wind was whipping. The Realtor sort of had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. I was 25. I just didn't worry about the weather back then. But I looked cute!

A lot of these house hunters want a fixer upper and then back out because they have to paint a room or change a light fixture, Lordy. It's not very cold where I live, but I never got the winter coat with flip flops thing.

And whenever there's a separate shower stall, they call it a "stand up" shower instead of a "walk in" shower. Or when the house hunters are standing in an empty house with no drapes and say people can see in!
